Surrender to the Beauty of the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces – Sept. 17, 2024

I’m having so many feelings about this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces tonight at 10:34 PM Eastern. I suppose that’s very appropriate for a lunation that’s super infused with the energy of Neptune.

Many are talking of the dramatic transformative energies of this Eclipse. Some see it as a portal. Others mention a paradigm shift. And while all of that is quite true, I’m feeling this energy as something shimmering and intangible that allows us a glimpse of the Sublime. A glimpse of something that is so filled with beauty that it inspires Awe. This is the highest possible vibration of both Pisces and Neptune, the planet that rules Pisces. This Eclipse can offer, if we open ourselves to it, at least a fleeting recognition of Self and Other as perfectly Divine.

Eclipses accelerate and intensify the energy that we occupy; the goals and achievements we’re working toward or longing for; the changes we want to make. I want to suggest that, if only for one night, we fully step into the dream and flesh it out to such tangible reality in our minds that it feels real. Because, as some of us have been taught, and others of us have certainly heard, that what we focus on becomes our reality.

If that is true, then this balancing act between the Sun in Virgo and the Moon in Pisces at this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, is all about bringing whatever is in your imagination, as a dream, or as a longing (Pisces & Neptune), into the tangible, earthy realm that is our everyday, practical lives (Virgo).

Virgo, where the Sun is now, is about analysis, compartmentalizing, and perfecting, and it is grounded earthy energy that functions best in the reality of the material world. Pisces, where the Moon is now, is about everything that is opposite to that – it is the urge to blend and merge into One with no distinctions. It is beauty, compassion, empathy, and spirituality. It doesn’t exist to make sense of the tangible; it exists to transcend the tangible and enter a state of Bliss. And this Pisces Moon has Neptune sitting right beside it, in Communion with our feeling natures, deepening us, opening us, priming us for Beauty.

Remember, where we put our focus grows and becomes our reality. If, during this Eclipse tonight, and hopefully during the next two weeks until the second Eclipse on Oct. 2, you focus on what is loving, what is beautiful, and what inspires Awe within you, you may get more of that as your reality going forward. It will perhaps require letting go of personal doubts and fears, or seeing the path around obstacles, rather than simply seeing the obstacles themselves. And that is so very doable.

So, to answer the call of this very Neptunian Lunar Eclipse, I suggest that you surrender to your Spiritual Nature and engage in your Spiritual Practice, whatever that is. Surrender to the call to love, to beauty, to your Infinite Self. Meditate. Pray. Be willing to be porous! Go outside and commune with the natural world. Paint. Dance. Sing. Do that thing that always makes you feel closest to Source. If you don’t know what that is, this is an ideal time to find it. Open your heart to wonder. Let yourself feel the Awe of what it means to be Human. Let yourself be inspired to see life with open, compassionate, and loving eyes… even yourself.

Thank you so much for joining me for this Eclipse energy. And as always, may you bloom into the fullness of your cosmic promise. May the kindness that you give always be returned, and may you find peace and joy in the eternal dance of the Universe.

With love, Michelle

P.S. Think about what was going on in March/April and September of 2015. That year we had Eclipses in almost exactly the same place as these Eclipses tonight and on Oct. 2. See if you can find a thread or a narrative that ties then with now. Is there something that began then that it’s time to release? Time to let go of? Is there a way in which you’ve grown beyond whatever that was, and are now ready to embrace something new in its place? Give yourself the time and space to ponder this during this Eclipse Season.

Mars in Cancer: Embracing Intuitive Action for Emotional Fulfillment

You may be feeling a shift in the energy around how we go about taking action in our lives. Mars is leaving the sign of Gemini, and moving into Cancer for the next nearly seven months. Anytime a planet shifts from one sign into the next, our focus around what that planet symbolizes shifts as well. And it’s especially true this time, as Mars goes Retrograde in this sensitive, indirect, and deeply loving sign.

Mars represents how we connect with our own will and how we go about taking action to achieve our will and to get our desires met. In Gemini, the focus was on gathering information and acting on the information we learned and collected. Now however, the emphasis for taking action shifts to being emotionally motivated, rather than mentally motivated, as was true while Mars was in Gemini for the past two months.

For the next several months we’re meant to take action more intuitively, from a feeling place. The sign Cancer is ruled by the lovely Moon, and she is all about our emotional responses to what’s happening in our lives. Cancer encompasses all things home and family and focuses our energy on what nurtures and nourishes us, and how we can nurture and nourish those we love. Cancer energy is also very connected to the past, so it’s appropriate to look to the past to see how it might inform what we’re doing now.

The crab (Cancer’s familiar) scuttles about on the beach in circles, rather than in a direct line, in order to protect itself from seagulls. In a similar way, when Mars is in Cancer it’s good to find a circuitous route to follow, and to let our emotions rise to each occasion. Mars in Cancer is about taking indirect action… which doesn’t mean never making a decision, or never taking any action at all. Rather, it means a slower approach that is safety oriented, and that doesn’t go directly toward a goal, but circles it to understand the many ways in which something can be accomplished. It may be best to observe and hold back to see how things will naturally evolve, rather than pushing for an ego driven end.

For those who have Mars or other personal planets in Water Signs natally (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) this shift of Mars into Cancer can feel very comfortable, like coming home. For those with Mars or other personal planets in Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), Mars moving into Cancer can feel quite nourishing and supportive. If you have a dominant theme in your natal chart of either Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) or Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) this shift might feel a bit more challenging for you. Think of it as learning a lesson around patience and care. Also, the Cardinal Signs other than Cancer (Aries, Libra, Capricorn) may also feel out-of-sorts with this shift, and again, learning patience and redirecting the will may help to navigate this energy.

Enjoy Mars in Cancer! Because it asks for higher sensitivity, we can be more imaginative and creative in the way we pursue our goals. We can feel our way into what we want, and take more time. We want to feel safe with Mars in this position, and we want to take actions to protect our families and loved ones. If you can, spend more time with them. Show them how much you love them in all the myriad little ways that make home and friendship beautiful.

There are downsides to Mars in Cancer (passive aggression comes to mind), just like there are for every astrological energy… but recognize that we can choose, and that there’s always a higher vibration that we can reach for. Afterall, that’s how we learn, grow, and evolve.

As always, may you bloom into the fullness of your cosmic promise. May the kindness that you give always be returned, and may you find peace and joy in the eternal dance of the Universe.

With love, Michelle

Virgo Season, the Virgo New Moon, and You – A September Ode to the Time of Harvest

I'm longing for Autumn crisp mornings.

I’m longing for Autumn crisp mornings. I can close my eyes and see the leaves of trees in vibrant reds, oranges, and golds as they prepare to let go and spiral gently down to become the sheltering carpet for tree roots, the soil, and the wee seeds that will hibernate beneath them. I want the burst of sweet crunchy apples, pumpkin bread, communing with friends around my fire bowl on the back patio, sweaters and boots, and the warming fragrance of cinnamon. Autumn is my jam! And September 1st has always been my favorite day of the year. It’s the doorway into the fall of the year. Autumn is not quite within our grasp yet as Summer lingers, but Virgo Season, which started on August 22, and the Sept. 2 New Moon in Virgo tomorrow, are priming us for nature’s transformations that are on the way!

As we enter the month of September, just beginning to leave the ripening heat of Summer behind, we move closer and closer to Autumn. Ten days ago, we entered the time of year that belongs to Virgo, and into the time of harvest. Harvest is a beautiful word that is intricately connected to the symbolism of Virgo, and evokes thoughts and images of toiling in the fields that were planted in Spring, in order to gather in the fruits of our labors that will nourish and sustain us through the Winter.

On a farm, the harvest is, by necessity, a time of discernment, perhaps the most Virgo quality of all. Farmers must analyze the bounty they’ve gathered and decide what to eat now, what is worth putting up for later, and what needs to be plowed back into the field, left to rot and nourish the soil for next year. When harvesting wheat, the millennia old symbol of Virgo, they must take discernment a bit further, so that it becomes an action of effort, separation, and organization. They must thresh the wheat to remove the husks, so that the edible part of the wheat is exposed. And then they must winnow it. Winnow is another beautiful word that means that a strong wind must stir and blow the husks away, removing the chaff – the husks that have been threshed away.

The protective husk is light and easily winnowed from the heart of the grain that is edible and nourishing. The husk serves its purpose as a protector so that that the kernel of the grain can incubate, mature, and ripen. But if the husk were to remain intact, the perfected fruit inside would never fulfill its purpose, which is to be in service to the nourishment of others. That nourishment can be literal, but also means to be in service to others in a way that nurtures their purpose, while living your own.

The beauty of using the metaphor of wheat here is that Virgo, the second Earth sign of the Zodiac, is of the soil. She is of the Earth. She is profoundly connected to its rhythms, the cycles of light and heat of the Sun, and the gravitational pulls of the Moon, and the movement of the waters of life. She is the embodiment of earthy intelligence. Virgo understands and desires everything that nourishes the body, and brings it into the most perfected state of health and well-being possible. Just as wheat is known as the “bread of life,” Virgo, from a more personal perspective, can be understood as the “bread of Self.” During this Virgo Season, which beautifully offers us a New Moon in Virgo as well (new beginnings in a Virgo fashion), be prepared to harvest your true and natural Self. Meticulously work toward separating the chaff, or what is no longer useful in your thoughts, habits and patterns, from the nourishing wheat that is your true purpose now.

The ”now” part is where you might find a bit of a hiccup. As a human doing your best, you still may hold on to old patterns – old chaff that protects a story you tell yourself about who you are, or a goal you once wanted to achieve, or an expectation of self that you haven’t fulfilled. If you really analyze it, that goal or expectation may not have been yours at all, but someone else’s for you. Or you may have evolved beyond the limitations of that particular dream. The old story you’re holding may simply no longer be viable or true. Virgo is the symbol that discerns what’s appropriate for where you are now, and separates you from what’s no longer necessary or serving the path to a more perfected you.

Virgo is about harvesting and honoring the natural kernel of Self; analyzing what you’ve learned, what you’ve accomplished, and with acclaimed common sense and prudence, what you haven’t. The questions become, “How can I separate the chaff from the wheat of what is truly, naturally, me? And if I can do that, how do I release the chaff that isn’t necessary to me anymore, and then maintain and perfect the wheat that is divinely me?” If you’re asking these kinds of questions, you have truly entered the higher vibrational meaning and understanding of Virgo.

I wish for you a healthy Self Harvest during this Virgo Season, and honest and practical new beginnings that serve you well during this Virgo New Moon.

May you bloom into the fullness of your cosmic promise. May the kindness that you give always be returned, and may you find peace and joy in the dance of the Universe.

With love, Michelle

Know Thyself: Consciously Learning the Energy of YOU

(This article first appeared in the May/June 2018 issue of the Conscious Life Journal)

The Mirror, c. 1896 by English painter Sir Francis Bernard Dicksee (Frank Dicksee). Oil on Canvas – Private Collection

Picture this. You’re being born… meeting light and life. And because all things are energy – waves and vibrations connecting and disconnecting and always in flux – there is a specific and unique symphony in that precise moment. Your moment. Instinctively you gasp in your first breath, and are forever imprinted with the spirit of that time and place. You have become. You are a manifestation of the energetic pattern you inhaled in that quickening breath. And you will resonate to and through that energetic pattern for the rest of your life.

Psychological Astrology maps the energy of your psyche based on that miraculous moment of birth.

Your astrological birth map, based on the date, time, and place of birth, opens a dynamic and transformative world of Self-knowing, Self-acceptance, and Self-mastery. Why am I the way I am? What are my gifts? What are my challenges? Through the symbols of planets, signs, houses, and aspects – the language of astrology – you become conscious of yourself in a multi-layered and profoundly rich way.

“Astrology then, is the language of the
Cosmic Mind – the macrocosm –
reflected via the Personal Mind –
the microcosm.”

Each Planet represents a distinctive piece of your psyche – the urge to love and be loved via Venus; the urge to take action on your will via Mars; the urge to learn and communicate via Mercury; the urge to feel and express emotions via the Moon; the urge to BECOME via the Sun.

horoscope-mandala-cropSigns of the Zodiac qualify those urges and are the lens through which they manifest. We all feel emotions, yet, Moon in Aries will emote differently than Moon in Taurus. The Moon in Aries is emotionally direct, willful and spontaneous; while the Moon in Taurus is practical and resists emotional change and turbulence. We all communicate, but Mercury in Sagittarius openly expresses, while Mercury in Scorpio shares only with those who are trusted.

Houses of your birth map show an area of focus in your life: the perceived Self, the life-partner, home, family, career, and finances are examples.

Aspects show relationships between planets. We clearly see for example, how your emotions (Moon), get along and communicate with your ego (Sun); or whether your relationships (Venus) are more romanticized (Neptune), or more based in reality (Saturn).

These are simplistic examples, but learning these distinctions is both helpful and validating. When you understand your personality, your motivations, and your potentials, you are much more likely to create a life story that promises success, confidence, contentment, and even happiness.

Astrology then, is the language of the Cosmic Mind – the macrocosm – reflected via the Personal Mind – the microcosm. The more you understand about yourself, the more you understand the nature of the Universe, and that in being your best Self, you are a positive co-creator of Life.

The Spring Equinox and the Resurrection of Life

spring_garden-tulips-daffodils

The Wheel of Life continues its turning, and with this fleeting moment of equal day and night at the Spring Equinox, we are delivered into the freshness of being, the bursting forth of life, and resurrection from the darkness and cold of the Winter just past.

As the Sun continues his sacred, life-giving journey and enters the sign of Aries, he advances higher in the sky, increasing in heat and intensity. This annual enlightenment encourages the recently cold ground to warm, the plants to push their way above the newly verdant earth, to unfurl their tender, new leaves, soon to burst with flowers and seeds… everything swells with life once more. We in the Northern Hemisphere are reminded each March that the battle between darkness and light, lost each Winter and won each Summer, stands at a truce – even if only briefly. This Spring Equinox détente delivers both relief and a promise – that as the light strengthens and warmth returns to stir and embolden us, and the glistening hues and fragrances of nature enchant and astonish our senses, we know that the descent into darkness is always rewarded with the sojourn back up into the light… into life.

Yin-Yang-flora-fauna“Equinox” describes that moment of equality between the darkness on one side and the light on the other. This means that we must emerge from the darkness to go into the light – to be resurrected. This idea, this symbolism of the battle between dark and light, is the source of stories passed down since the dawn of time. We witness our connection to this eternal battle via great literature, and our most popular modern books and films. From a spiritual perspective, much religious mythology across the world and throughout time has also offerred stories of conquering darkkness. It is no coincidence that one of the most enduring religious stories, that of crucifixion, death, and resurrection (shared by numerous deities throughout religious history), is the one many embrace during Spring – the time of Easter (resurrection of Jesus), Ostara (return of life from death), Passover (resurrection from slavery), and Isra and Mi’raj (ascension of Muhammad). There is an inherent knowledge deep within us, that the cycle of life and the ceaseless journey of the Sun, will bring us back into life and light – eternally.

Each Spring Equinox offers its own unique energy to mark the beginning of the return of warmth, life, and light. The astrological chart of the moment the Sun moves into Aries at 12:17 PM Eastern on March 20, 2018, ushers us into and provides the “background” influences for the duration of the Season. This year our first thrust into re-burgeoning life is one of mastering the challenge between impatience and passion, with the wisdom of the natural timing of belonging, of acceptance, and of healing. Mars challenges us to push forward with our desires, while Saturn and Chiron make sure we do so with pragmatism, and the experience of the time-tested. Actually, the Serenity Prayer comes to mind with this Spring energy – renew and reinvigorate your life with the serenity to accept the things you can’t change, to have the courage to change the things you can, and to call on wisdom to know the difference.

The Winter Solstice and Loving Responsibility

The Winter Solstice and Loving Responsibility

Winter-Solstice-Yule-Stag-Fox-Blessings

A Joyous Yule to You!

As we reach the moment of this Winter Solstice, when the Sun moves into the sign of Capricorn (11:29 AM Eastern, Dec. 21, 2017), we see the trees with their stark, naked limbs as reminders that we are in a natural time of retreat from the fullness of life, and entering a time of deep reflection. At this shortest day and longest night of the year, the dark offers us solace and the space to replenish.

Since the Autumn Equinox and its moment of balance, the Sun has diminished in power and strength, moving continuously Southward in the sky, until this day, December 21, when we become lovers of the darkness, and welcome her opportunity to introspect on the year’s passing; all that we have fulfilled, and all we have yet to accomplish. The Winter Solstice is the “one step back” in the natural “two steps forward, one step back” cycle of life, bringing us the opportunity to withdraw, to rest, to restore ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I love to imagine the hibernating animals in their dens, sleeping peacefully until the first thaw. Metaphorically, this is the image we can hold in our psyches to help us find comfort and to understand this time of harsh, bleak weather in the Northern Hemisphere.

The movement of the Sun at this time each year gives us food for thought as well. The Sun actually appears to stop once it reaches its southernmost point. He pauses in place for 3 days around the Solstice – in fact, the word “solstice” means “the sun stands still.” This is the space in which we can also stop and explore our inner workings, contemplate how we will rise to the coming year, as the sun begins to rise again after the third day.

MAAS-Winter-Solstice-Return-of-the-SunWhile the Winter Solstice is physically a time of darkness, the thing we celebrate at this time of year, as we have for thousands of years, is the return of the light – the return of the Sun. Ancient humans saw the annual decline of the Sun as a time of hardship, the time when they were tested in their ability to survive until Spring. But just after the Winter Solstice, even though the weather was still bitter, the Sun began again to rise northward in the sky, gaining in strength each day. They rejoiced in this, knowing that the days of cold, darkness, and little food would pass with the rising of the light, and their survival would become easier.

This hopeful message is also our experience during this time of year. Our hearts are lighter as we give gifts to our loved ones and celebrate with family gatherings. Our homes are brighter with candles, fires lit in fireplaces and fire bowls, and twinkle lights hanging all around. We are symbolically welcoming and calling the light back, to feed, to nurture, and to heal us. We have faith our fears will subside with the coming of the Sun, and we evoke life by bringing in evergreens to inspire us in our own continuity. It is a glorious time during which we welcome the purity the light promises and brings.

The message of this particular Winter Solstice, as viewed from an astrological perspective, is one of loving responsibility. Pause for a moment and lean into that phrase, “loving responsibility.”

The horoscope for 11:29 AM Eastern on December 21, 2017 shows a strong Saturn influence, not only from the sign of Capricorn into which the Sun just entered, but Saturn himself conjoins the Sun and Venus at this moment. The influence of Saturn is one of commitment, duty, and practical management. He asks us to work hard toward our dreams, and to put strong structures in place that will stand the test of time. Venus shows us the beauty of harmony, fairness, and the blessing of our loved ones. As these two energies combine with the Sun, the message is one of holding our loved ones close, and of doing our best by them so that we strengthen our bonds, grounding them in reality. At this time, may we also use Saturn and Venus to extend loving responsibility to all our fellow humans, and indeed to all our fellow beings.

So, I invite you to light your Solstice fire and to look intently into the flames as you ponder the year just past. Allow the flames to inspire you toward a profound sense of loving responsibility as you welcome the glorious return of the Sun.

A Note:

There is another face of Saturn that I believe we often forget – the idea of rich rewards for work well done – of digging in and doing the hard work when it is required, and then reaping the rich rewards of that committed effort; of creating a solid structure from which good things can grow and thrive. As you sit before your Solstice fire introspecting about the year just past and setting your intentions for the year to come, remember this dynamic of Saturn as well, and remember to extend your loving responsibility beyond yourself and toward all within your reach. Your blessings and rewards will be great.

If we remember our mythology, it was during the reign of Saturn that humans enjoyed The Golden Age, which was then celebrated in Rome for centuries as Saturnalia at this very time of year. For a week each Winter Solstice, Rome was rich with feasting and evergreens and merrymaking to honor Saturn and that mythological Golden Age.

The Autumn Equinox and the Moment of Balance – September 22, 2017

sunset-in-autumn

Sunset in Autumn

Balance.

This is the word we reflect on at the Autumn Equinox. As we see and feel the shifting of the light and the crisping of the air, the Sun, just entering the astrological sign of Libra, continues its descent across the Southern sky, gradually weakening in light and height. This day is the day of equal day and night hours, when light and dark are not battling for the sky, but equal in strength. The equinoxes, both Spring and Autumn, are the only times when the Northern and Southern Hemispheres are equally illuminated. In the Northern Hemisphere we are now in-between the extremes of the heat of Summer with its long, languid days just past, and in anticipation of the short, dark, cold days of Winter. We are betwixt and between… a time of equilibrium, a time of balance. A time of transition. It is as though we are between a deep inhale and a powerful exhale, where the moment hangs shimmering and poignant, before it passes away.

The-Red-Vinyard-at-Arles-1888-Vincent-Van-Gogh

The Red Vinyard at Arles, Vincent Van Gogh, 1888

Before we started buying our food at grocery stores and super centers, the Autumn Equinox was a celebration of the harvest – the time when, both exhausted and jubilant, we’d successfully brought in the fruits of our labors, preparing and storing them for the winter. It was a time to mark the importance of working together for a common cause, a time to revel in our community as the stronghold of our survival together. This is an idea that is central to the energy of Libra and to this time of year: equality, balance, community, peace, beauty – the peace and beauty of the dying sun, of the vibrancy of the trees in their final blaze of glory, of our relationships and what we create when we are equal together, honoring all sides, balancing all views, and coming to diplomatic solutions that strengthen and protect us all.

Equinox is from the Latin aequinoctium, meaning “equal night.” Today the night is equal to the day, yet as we move through time away from the Equinox and toward the Winter Solstice, the days become shorter and and we have less light to live by. What was known to our ancestors, before technology gave us permanent days with electric light, is the part darkness plays in the work of spiritual transformation. The darkness, to which we are absolutely heading as each day passes, is a place that restores us, a space where we germinate, and regenerate. But before we reach the full darkness of the Winter Solstice,

Libra-Symbol-Glyph

The glyph for Libra represents both the scales and the Autumn sun setting over the horizon, a symbol for equilibrium and peace.

we have the opportunity to learn from the harmony and symmetry of the Equinox. We tap into the beauty of internal balance, that sense of equilibrium we need in order to start preparing for the darkness. In this space of anticipation, when the light is gorgeous, the air is temperate and cooling to the skin, and the riotous, rich colors of ‘Nature in her Fall’ imbue our spirits with gratitude, with generosity – and because we are feeling externally delighted – we find it easy to extend ourselves in love, open to both giving and receiving. The crispness of the season is reviving to the spirit, and for as long as we dare, before the dark and cold drive us inside, we strive toward company among others, pleasures, beauty, harmony, and love. This is the message of Libra.

The particular message of this Autumn Equinox, found in the astrological chart drawn for the moment the Sun moves into Libra at 4:03 PM Eastern on September 22, 2017, has much to do with balancing our wounds with our identities, and where we want to shine. Often the places where we feel wounded, excluded, abandoned, or victimized so interfere with our potentials that we can’t seem to get past ourselves to achieve our goals or take the next step toward healing. Sometimes we even project our talents, our greatness, onto others, not quite believing that we can ever fulfill the dreams we long for, leaving it to others to lead creative, fulfilled lives. This Autumn Equinox season brings the opportunity to pull in those projections so that you can own your own dreams and potentials. This energy also includes showing you the the ways in which to attain the tools you need to bring your gifts into reality – if you are willing to see and take the challenge and do the necessary work. So again, we are back to balance. Being out of balance is living only in a dream; or conversely being so focused on duty, responsibility and work that you don’t allow yourself to have a dream. Use this Autumn Equinox energy to open you to the balance of both creating a vision from your dream, using the tools before you, and doing the work to manifest the reality that you yearn for. The Virgo New Moon – A Calling – September 20, 2017

This early morning New Moon feels like a calling to me.

At 1:30 AM Eastern today, September 20, 2017, the Sun and Moon conjoined in one of the most astute signs of the Zodiac: Virgo. And, the degree of this New Moon set off the degree of the Solar Eclipse just past – so there’s an intensity, and a force behind this moment.

The combination of this intelligent Virgo New Moon with the Autumn Equinox in two days, on Friday, Sept. 22, is asking us to work on something that is bigger than we are, even if it requires personal adjustment, and long-term effort. We can begin anew for our families, communities, and our country – and the goal is to serve the greater good with our intellect, with our genius, with our actions, with the certainty that the future will be better than our now. And we can begin anew with our vulnerable, wounded hearts on our sleeves – the same sleeves that we must roll up so that we can get to work.

The business at hand in this new beginning is action in service toward healing each other.

Let me just say that again. The business at hand is action in service toward healing each other. Healing you and me. Healing them. Healing us. And that means letting others in to help you heal you – while you’re doing all you can to help heal others. Another way to put it is reciprocity in love, service, and compassion.

The tools at our disposal are both practical and spiritual in nature. Call on your ability to discern what is useful and what is pointless – what is healthy and what is sick. Call on your ability to ground and stabilize whatever is necessary to create new structures, structures that are built with compassion and acceptance for everyone. Call on pragmatism. Call on determination. Call on commitment. And do the details… while keeping a broad view.

Show your broken heart – the heart that is full for those who have lost everything, for those who now live in fear, for those who are maligned and beaten and murdered – and know that in showing the cracks, you become stronger by the loving compassion of others that fill them in. Accept the love and compassion with gratitude and give it back in full. This is the most powerful tool possible.

Will you accept the call?
