Picture this. You’re being born… meeting light and life. And because all things are energy – waves and vibrations connecting and disconnecting and always in flux – there is a specific and unique symphony in that precise moment. Your moment. Instinctively you gasp in your first breath, and are forever imprinted with the spirit of that time and place. You have become. You are a manifestation of the energetic pattern you inhaled in that quickening breath. And you will resonate to and through that energetic pattern for the rest of your life.

Psychological Astrology maps the energy of your psyche based on that miraculous moment of birth.

Your astrological birth map, based on the date, time, and place of birth, opens a dynamic and transformative world of Self-knowing, Self-acceptance, and Self-mastery. Why am I the way I am? What are my gifts? What are my challenges? Through the symbols of planets, signs, houses, and aspects – the language of astrology – you become conscious of yourself in a multi-layered and profoundly rich way.

“Astrology then, is the language of the
Cosmic Mind – the macrocosm –
reflected via the Personal Mind –
the microcosm.”

Each Planet represents a distinctive piece of your psyche – the urge to love and be loved via Venus; the urge to take action on your will via Mars; the urge to learn and communicate via Mercury; the urge to feel and express emotions via the Moon; the urge to BECOME via the Sun.

horoscope-mandala-cropSigns of the Zodiac qualify those urges and are the lens through which they manifest. We all feel emotions, yet, Moon in Aries will emote differently than Moon in Taurus. The Moon in Aries is emotionally direct, willful and spontaneous; while the Moon in Taurus is practical and resists emotional change and turbulence. We all communicate, but Mercury in Sagittarius openly expresses, while Mercury in Scorpio shares only with those who are trusted.

Houses of your birth map show an area of focus in your life: the perceived Self, the life-partner, home, family, career, and finances are examples.

Aspects show relationships between planets. We clearly see for example, how your emotions (Moon), get along and communicate with your ego (Sun); or whether your relationships (Venus) are more romanticized (Neptune), or more based in reality (Saturn).

These are simplistic examples, but learning these distinctions is both helpful and validating. When you understand your personality, your motivations, and your potentials, you are much more likely to create a life story that promises success, confidence, contentment, and even happiness.

Astrology then, is the language of the Cosmic Mind – the macrocosm – reflected via the Personal Mind – the microcosm. The more you understand about yourself, the more you understand the nature of the Universe, and that in being your best Self, you are a positive co-creator of Life.

Lovliness – The New Moon in Pisces – March 11, 2013

Leda by Gustave Moreau

Leda by Gustave Moreau

“The term hieros gamos is used generally to refer to the sacred marriage between two divinities, or between a human being and Mother/Father God, or between two human beings (under certain special conditions); the ultimate alchemy of forces which harmonize polar opposites.”

Enjoy today’s New Moon in Pisces at 3:51 PM Eastern… what a lovely energy! Sun, Moon, Venus and Mars all conjoined in the sign of spiritual union and loving transcendence… use this energy at the highest vibration, connecting to the Divine via art, romance, alleviating suffering, and inspired creativity. This is the energy of the Sacred Marriage. Stay out of the shadow… disillusion, deception and escape. Have a gorgeous New Moon all!

Full Harvest Moon in Aries: An Evolutionary Moment – What is YOUR “AH HA!?” September 29, 2012, 11:19 PM Eastern Time

Full Harvest Moon

Look at this day! Feel this potent moment! This Full Moon in Aries!

It is truly an evolutionary moment in time. Why?

This Full Moon fully and perfectly connects with the Uranus/Pluto square – THE configuration for revolution, transformation and total change.

The Moon is in Aries, conjuncting the planet Uranus within 23 minutes of exactitude, triggering a consummation within our personal emotions, and simultaneously fueling us with the energy to initiate. Even as we reach the denouement in the current monthly cycle something within us is enlivened! The Sun in Libra brings this energy into connection with those we love – with whomever we keep close company, our social circle. It ensures that whatever this moment holds, it is not only for ourselves but to be shared in the deepest possible way – and perhaps in the most unique and unexpected possible way.

Both the Sun and the Moon are almost exactly squared to Pluto (again within 23 minutes – that’s about 37 minutes less than one single degree out of a possible 30), making Pluto the focal point of this amazing configuration. Pluto. The God of Death, Transformation and Rebirth. The God of what’s deeply rooted inside you that needs to erupt into consciousness.

What is that for you?

What is the challenging, rotting debris lying deep within your psyche that needs to be brought into the light of consciousness? (Don’t read another word until you think about that for few minutes. Really. What is it?)

Get down into yourself to answer that question – the deeper you go, the more uncomfortable you may feel. But – that’s the point! Bring it up and out – let it burst forth suddenly without questioning it or trying to stamp it back down. Allow Uranus (sudden enlightenment) and Pluto (the dark, sometimes frightening, underbelly of who we are) to work their magic on you tonight.

This could be, as it has been for me today, one of the most momentous personal breakthroughs of your life.

Today I realized suddenly – with elation and a sense of release – the way in which I have stood in my own way. For me that has been resistance to others. For me that has been the fear of surrender. Talk about an ah ha!! I can feel that the energy around me is different. I can feel that my heart is wide open. I trust that all is as it should be and that I am home – wherever I am physically. (This may sound cryptic, but that’s the gist of my evolution today without going into all the sordid details!)

What is this moment for you?

Now let’s move just for a moment from the personal (and transpersonal) to the relative world. What might this configuration mean in the “real” world?

With the Moon and the Sun as triggers of the Uranus/Pluto square, we could see events in nature – earthquakes would be my first guess, as they bear such similar energy to the sudden and unexpected energy of Uranus, and bringing up hot masses from the bowels of the Earth, which is the energy of  Pluto. Hopefully though, there will be far less disruptive ways for this energy to manifest.

The Moon and Uranus coming together represent, on the lower vibration of the energy, sudden uncontrollable emotions erupting forth. And with this energy squared to Pluto, lower vibration activation could be some sort of destructive force played out as a result of those unbounded emotions.

So there is the possibility of some fairly nasty representation of this combination. In nature, in politics, in any arena… but we can choose, at least for our selves and our own domains, to vibrate at the higher level – one of evolutionary transformation and soul surging ah ah! moments.

Happy Full Moon!

Moon, Venus, Jupiter and the Sun = Lovely Day!

Despite the fact that politically, financially and environmentally things feel like they’re falling apart (the inevitable growing pains of transformation and evolution), and despite the fact that the astrological weather of late has been – well, let’s just say a little intense – today can be a  truly feel good day if you tap into the right energy.

The Moon is in Scorpio – not a light emotional expression to be sure – but it’s in lovely angle to both the Sun and Venus in Virgo. We can find opportunities here for a warm, caring social atmosphere (a neighbor who I see daily just walked by and for the first time smiled and waved at me through my window!) and sincere, deep expressions of caring and service are possible.

Add in a connection between the Moon and Jupiter and you have a recipe for balancing instincts with the intellect… a moment in time when spirits run high and we have fertile ground for pulling together our ethics with our emotions. And anytime the Moon and Jupiter get together we can tap into simple joy – an abundance of noble emotion is there for the asking.

The last feel good ingredient in today’s cosmic soup is a flow of good vibes between the Sun in Virgo and Jupiter in Taurus… at the least we can step forward with gentle confidence (nothing overt as Jupiter is retrograde) and with the assurance of success on some level.

It’s a great day to ponder the meaning of life and your place in it and to share those thoughts with friends and family. Enjoy this moment to catch your breath and relate to those you love!

A Total Eclipse of the Heart

The Total Solar Eclipse that honored Planet Earth on Aug. 1, 2008 at 6:22 AM EDT, is one that’s almost purely LEO energetically. At the time of the Eclipse the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, the South Node of the Moon and the Ascendant (the Ascendant from an Eastern Daylight Time perspective) were all in the creative, courageous sign of Leo! And these planets were situated such that they didn’t connect strongly with any other planets. Eclipses are major movers and shakers. They stir up stagnant energy and open new vortices of power. They are intense, hard to ignore and can be felt for months (some claim years) after the event. Eclipses proclaim, “Out with the old and in with the new!” What does it all mean? It means that right now, and for many months to come, the heart, the organ of life and vitality ruled by Leo, has the capacity to be fully engaged. This Eclipse sets up a long-term energetic pattern that supports our ability to connect to our heart’s desire’s, our life purpose, and pushes us to fully and creatively engage in determining our perfect future. It means that if we ever wanted to be the benevolent, strong, courageous ruler of our own life, now is the time to embark. It means that this is the time to listen to your heart, and then act on what it’s telling you! What brings you joy? What makes you feel vitally alive and true to yourself? What sparks your creativity and gets you completely enthusiastic? Answer these questions and you’ll get the answer to your life path. Right now we are being asked to listen fully to our hearts and to commit to our Soul purpose. If you’re saying “YES” and getting goose bumps — then go ahead and allow a total eclipse of your heart! The Universe is supporting you!
