Super Quick Saturday Cosmic Weather – Astrology for June 11, 2016

I-dreamed-my-whole-house-was-clean

Here’s the quick shake out for your Saturday, June 11, 2016 (Eastern Time.)
(I’m having a bit of fun with this one!)

Stay in bed until about 9am because the Moon in Virgo is in opposition to Neptune in Pisces, and all we really want to do is dream and fantasize anyway. Tell yourself that it’s ok to stay in bed, because the Virgo piece of this equation might feel guilty… a nice compromise would be to lay in bed in your half sleep, analyzing and making plans. 🙂

Then get up about 10am and really get down to weekend chores quickly to use the practical, get it done energy of the Moon squaring Saturn in Sagittarius – if you don’t get down to work, then you might just feel stuck and end up procrastinating (or feeling sorry for yourself.) The Moon isn’t only squaring Saturn… it’s also opposing Neptune. So there could be a bit of a quandary about whether to get something done, or whether to wallow a bit longer. Push, pull. Push, pull. Don’t use the energy that way! Best case scenario, do a lovely meditation, or sit outside in Nature to get centered, and THEN get down to business.

As the moon moves away from the Saturn/Neptune energy, make some afternoon plans for about 2pm, because just after that Luna gets a lot happier when she connects with Jupiter… shake off the dreams of the morning and all those chores (or the wishing that you’d actually done them) and just do something that makes you feel really good. Be social… Venus is still connected to the Sun today.

After a nice big dinner, get cozy in your hidey hole and do some deep pondering, or even some research, about what you want your future to hold. The Moon is conjuncting the North Node and making a trine to Pluto, so dig deep, tell yourself the truth, and lean into your purpose. If you think something in your immediate vicinity is holding you back… throw it away! This can be literal, emotional, or metaphorical, but when Pluto is tapping at our emotions, he likes us to purge. And ponder. And go about the business of evolving…

And if you’re sharing your evening with another, expect emotions to run deeply – and maybe even passionately.

Happy Saturday!

Astrology for Thursday, June 9, 2016: Cosmic Life Ops

The-Birth-of-Venus-Botticelli

During the morning hours, due to an uncomfortable angle between the Moon and Pluto (quincunx), there could be some adjustments that must be made in an emotional situation… the need to control something could be pretty strong, but look deeply at your motivations and see where you can shift a little to create a more comfortable atmosphere. As we move into the afternoon there are some super pleasant energies available today via Venus and the Sun in Gemini being intimately close (conjunction – we can see this as the beginning of the birth of Venus as she transitions into her new phase as the evening star), and the Moon reaching out to both of them (sextile) from Leo for possible social time with an intellectual bent – or maybe just a gossipy one. 🙂 These combinations create an emphasis on our vitality being impacted by beauty and relationship, our values coming to the fore in a prominent role, and connecting with others emotionally for companionable or even playful gatherings. There could be some creative tension possible with Mercury (the way we communicate) in Taurus moving into opposition with Mars (the way we take action to get what we want) in Scorpio, but the key is to be willing to go deeply into an issue without manipulating your opponent or refusing to budge in an opinion. Allow your peers and companions time to process rather than pushing for resolution. During the evening things may get a little more exciting – and whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing will mostly depend on how willing you are to let go and flow. The Moon will contact Uranus (trine), with Venus heading toward a connection with him as well (sextile), so be prepared to step outside the norm so that you can move with this often unusual and fluctuating energy. And make it fun! If your schedule unexpectedly shifts outside your comfort zone, move with the current and see where you land. It could be eye opening!

Change one small habit… Change your life.

We-are-what-we-repeatedly-do-ARISTOTLE

Change one small habit… change your life.

With Saturn and Uranus dancing together in the sky, that’s something to think about – and make a plan for. Why? SATURN is connecting to URANUS via a trine, a connection that doesn’t compel but rather flows, for quite a long time.

Saturn touches Uranus during the Spring of 2016, the Winter of 2016, and pretty much all of 2017.

Changing an ingrained habit (change is the domain of Uranus) requires a plan enacted in a practical, orderly, patient, and pragmatic manner (the domain of Saturn). And fortunately, this is just what the Saturn connection to Uranus offers.  So, get clarity about what you want to change, commit to it, and use the long-term Saturn trine to Uranus to carry out your intention of breaking an old habit and creating a new one. 🙂 Feel free to let me know how it goes… and if you want to know where the Saturn/Uranus connection will be impacting you via your birthchart, I’m happy to help. astrology@michellegregg.com

Mercury Retrograde in Gemini – May / June 2015

Heart

(Pre-Shadow: May 4 – May 18; Mercury Retrograde: May 18 – June 11;
Post-Shadow: June 11 – June 27, 2015)

There are SO many ways to look at this powerful Mercury Retrograde in Gemini that’s coming right up, especially with this dynamic Neptune influence…  I’ll start with this in case you don’t make it past the first paragraph: First, the practical advice: BACK UP all your data, no matter where it lives or how secure you think it is. Get your tires and your oil changed and your 5,000 mile check-up. Replace that head gasket or that timing belt that you’ve been putting off – but do it quick. Now the good stuff: If you have a spiritual practice, turn to it fully and embrace it wholeheartedly – it will support you beautifully now. (If you don’t, and have always wanted to, then go get one – prayer, meditation, yoga.) It’s not the time to embark on a completely new idea or project, but if you have artistic or design talents that have been sitting on a shelf, take them down and dust them off. If you’re planning to travel… perhaps rethink your plans until later-ish June, unless your journey is spiritual, compassionate (I’m thinking about Nepal), or artistic in nature. If you’re thinking of signing a contract or pushing a project, it’s truly time to step away, allow the Gods their due, and get a more artistic, more inspired, more elegant appraisal of what you’re doing and what you’re expecting – and listen to your intuition around this process – instead of what your ego craves. If you’re musical or poetic and haven’t been practicing, GO! Give you instrument and your voice free reign! If you have addictive tendencies or are prone to overdo ANY feel good props, it’s time discover that inner strength you know is there and just say no. And if you’re into intellectual, inspired beauty, boy howdy, this is the time for you. Deeply connect to that beauty and love…

Bottom line? STOP PUSHING. LISTEN TO YOUR INTUITION. OPEN TO YOUR ARTISTIC NATURE. LET GO AND LET GOD. GET SOME PERSPECTIVE. SURRENDER. ALLOW. RELEASE INTO THE SUBLIME. TURN ON YOUR LOVE BEAM. THINK AND SPEAK YOUR INNER BEAUTY.  (It’s the THINK part, right? Yes, you can think loving thoughts to and about yourself. )

We’ve been in the pre-shadow period of Mercury Retrograde since May 4.  So even though Mercury doesn’t officially go retrograde until May 18 (just 2 days from now!) for all intents and purposes, WE’RE ALREADY IN IT, and have been for almost 2 weeks. Probably not a surprise to those of you who are sensitive to this one.

I started hearing the lamentable stories right at the beginning of May… and simultaneously began to hear the incredulous question, “Why does it feel like Mercury is retrograde?” I was surprised at first, knowing the retrograde was a couple of weeks away, but when I started looking at it I realized how this particular retrograde is probably a precocious one. 🙂

Understand then that from a FEELING PERSPECTIVE Mercury IS and HAS BEEN retrograde since May 4. The trickster planet is really slowing down in its orbit right now, which is the initiation into the actual retrograde. And that phenomenon is made extravagant by the fact that Mercury is in its own sign of Gemini – the sign it naturally rules. AND, Mercury is in a square aspect to Neptune… confused much? That’s frequently what Neptune combined with Mercury brings on when operating at the lower vibrational level… lots of confusion and chaos in processing information, communicating effectively, memory, travel, technology, basic intellectual understanding, etc. etc. etc.  So even without the retrograde motion of Mercury, due to the connection between Mercury and Neptune, we have this type of non-focused energy as a base line…

God-MindAND THAT’S WHY YOU WANT TO ELEVATE THE ENERGY. Consciously operate from the higher vibration level of Mercury Retrograde in its own sign of Gemini squaring Neptune.

HOW??? is obviously the question.

This is all truly about the God Mind, so the answer is by doing the suggestions I gave earlier: connect to God(s) and your spiritual core; align with your artistry – whatever form that takes; surrender your ego and listen to your intuition (it will pay off I promise). TELL YOUR STORY WITH TRUE FEELING… because in the telling will arise insights and aha’s that need to be pulled from your unconsciousness.

Let your thoughts, your speech, your writing, the way you move through your life reflect the goodness within you.  If you’re having a hard time connecting with that loving place within, then mentally AND emotionally go inside… Mercury Retrograde is the king of digging deep and coming back with amazing personal insights that inform the current energy pattern.

During this time, between now and June 27 (when we’re past the post-shadow), if you’re challenged by a choice between logic and compassion – go with compassion. The purpose behind this retrograde is to learn to find the peace of compassion and grace despite a busy mind; to connect to your inner divinity even while questioning everything; to engage your dream now and in a few weeks give it a voice rather than simply staying in the dreaming. The goal is to rest and restore your mind with indulgences into fantasy and beauty so that they can inform your future with a new, divinely inspired perspective.

Obviously this Mercury Retrograde impacts everyone, but if you have the Sun, Moon, or personal planets in Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces, this Mercury Retrograde is especially for you! 🙂

Mercury Retrograde – The Unlikely Healing Gift

Super New Moon Solar Eclipse – Final Epic Square of Uranus & Pluto – and the Fresh Breath of Spring: We’ve got it all!

Empowered Spiritual Warrior

Sooooo… the title of this blog is a bit much, and maybe life is too, a little bit, right now? Even if it’s going GREAT, the energy is intense and the speed is full throttle.

Breathe deeply, find center… and push.

Sounds a little bit like giving birth, huh?

In a way, that’s what’s happening.

Monday, March 16 was the final exact square of seven, between Uranus and Pluto since 2008. It’s the final push of an epic event that began stirring as long ago as 2007, and will continue to be felt deeply for years to come. This decade long contraction is somehow both an ending and a beginning, rather like birth. You know – the way that life is never the same after the birth of a child. Something had to end, so that something else could begin.

Also akin to birth is the Super New Moon at the very last degree of Pisces, closely followed by the New Moon Solar Eclipse at 2 Aries. That happened this morning, March 20 – at 5:36 AM Eastern. Closely following on the heels of that incredible event is the beginning of Spring! Today! The Vernal Equinox is the moment of the birth of a new year, when the Sun moves into Aries (6:45 PM Eastern), the sign of new beginnings and surging new energy that wants to become. And the moon is right there as well. Both the Sun (consciousness) and the Moon (emotions) move into the first fiery sign of the Zodiac today! Spring is here!

And that’s a lot of energy. And it’s a lot of energy on the North and South nodes of the Moon, also in Aries. Those points ask you to balance your comfort zone with your purpose, your past with your future, your easy spot with what you’re stretching to become.

Think past informing the future.

Think taking direct action on a spiritual awakening, compassion, and sublime, divinely inspired art.

Think letting go of your sense of loss so you can embrace what the Universe is offering.

Think living from love instead of fear… this is the crux of this energy as I see it.

We have this Super New Moon in the final degree of Pisces – all about loving kindness, empathy, sensitivity to others and to the world, and the urge to live life without any borders separating you from Source or from other people. In the lower vibration state Pisces energy can be self-sacrificial – and even a victim. But elevate it and you get loving consciousness – Christ Consciousness.

Right after that amazing New Moon, the energy shifts as the Moon and then the Sun both move into Aries! So, you’re meant to harness that consciousness of loving and carry it forward with a push toward actualization, in essence becoming the Spiritual Warrior. Living from Love rather than Fear, empowering yourself from that place of spiritual union, and moving forward toward the future with certainty and courage and the fiery spirit of trusting your instincts and the rightness of Self. (The capital “S” Self in the Jungian sense – the individuated Self.)

Can I get an amen?

If life is feeling out of control or overwhelming, stop, breathe, and then consciously choose to make decisions from Love – however scary that may be. FEEL where you’ve allowed fear to drive you and then make the necessary shifts.

If life is delivering you exactly what you want – and possibly very suddenly – don’t deny it or sabotage it by second guessing! Stop, breathe, and then consciously decide to move forward boldly – with trust – making your decisions from a place of Love.

This energy is all about taking the necessary risks to be YOU. Not fearful you. Loving, courageous, Spiritual Warrior you.

This energy is all about being in service to yourself so that you can be in service to others in a courageous, compassionate way that doesn’t deliver you into victimization or self-sacrifice.

It’s a powerful moment – so engage with it powerfully. Fearlessly. And with Love.

Super New Moon Solar Eclipse in Pisces – 5:36 AM Eastern on March 20, 2015

And I’ll burn with the fire of ten million stars…

Starry sky

I woke up this morning with the lyrics from a song running through my head, and I found myself singing as I got through the morning routine of making breakfast and lunch for my son, and driving him to the bus… and those lyrics got me thinking.

You are infinite. You are wondrous. And so am I. We are each one an intrinsic, not to be missed part of the whole, each being completely unique… having completely unique talents to bring to the world, just like every star whose light we enjoy in the vast and wondrous night skies of our lives, even as their fire dies.

These ideas are so relevant as both Venus and Mars are conjunct to Uranus in Aries in the sky right now! Let the fire ignite your spirit! Take action on your creative talents in the way that only you can! You are “the body electric!” (Google that phrase with Walt Whitman and Ray Bradbury.)

So I thought I’d share. Here they are, the lyrics to I Sing the Body Electric from the 1980’s film FAME.

I sing the body electric
I celebrate the me yet to come
I toast to my own reunion
When I become one with the sun

And I’ll look back on Venus
I’ll look back on Mars
And I’ll burn with the fire of ten million stars
And in time, and in time we will all be stars

I sing the body electric
I glory in the glow of rebirth
Creating my own tomorrow
When I shall embody the earth

And I’ll serenade Venus
I’ll serenade Mars
And I’ll burn with the fire of ten million stars
And in time, and in time we will all be stars

We are the emperors now and we are the czars
And in time, and in time we will all be stars

I sing the body electric
I celebrate the me yet to come
I toast to my own reunion
When I become one with the sun

And I’ll look back on Venus
I’ll look back on Mars
And I’ll burn with the fire of ten million stars
And in time, and in time we will all be stars
And in time, and in time we will all be stars

The song was written by Michael Gore, the Musical Supervisor on the film FAME. And it’s quite an inspirational story!
Here is that story on SongFacts.com: http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=25856

And here’s a tidbit for those who watch astrological charts fairly closely… I checked mine. At the time the song began playing in my head, Venus, Mars, Uranus, and the South Node of the Moon were all rising in the East in my location, conjuncting my natal Moon in Aries. And the Moon herself, in Scorpio, was conjuncting my Neptune. Voila!

Full Moon in Virgo Today, March 5, 2015, 1:05 PM Eastern – The Light of Love

Virgo-Pisces-Full-Moon

I’ve been thinking of this Full Moon in Virgo from a spiritual perspective because of the very strong Pisces elements involved… The Virgo Moon is a very earthy and practical energy, and today it is opposite the Sun in Pisces, which is flanked by Chiron and Neptune, also both in Pisces. One way of looking at all that heavy emphasis on Pisces/Neptune is Universal Love or Christ Consciousness. For those of us really connected into this Full Moon, our intuition can be heightened and our loving compassion strongly roused, while emotionally we want surety… i.e. to read the instruction manual and ask for directions before setting out on the journey. Two obviously very different energies to balance.

But there is a flavor of loving service, and healing cosmic/karmic wounds to both sides of this Virgo/Pisces coin, and that’s where my mind is wandering…

Here are some key phrases to get you connected to this lovely moment:

*your spiritual center

*being in service as a mentor and guide

*receiving guidance

*bringing light to your purpose as a divine spark of infinite love

*healing wounds through opening the heart to love

*using discernment and attention to details as your guide

*bringing balance between flowing and defining

*being found after being lost

Dichotomies that may come to light that need balancing:

Victim vs. Savior (with a splash of Martyr on either side)

Order vs. Chaos

Reality vs. Dreams

Practicality vs. romanticism

Details vs. Vastness

Control vs. Addiction

And maybe all some of us want to do with this energy is to clean up a bit and then plan, prepare, and eat a lovely meal with a gorgeous bottle of wine while we get lost in a novel, movie, or book of poetry – or a great love… 🙂

First Full Moon of 2015 – Full Moon in Cancer – Anchor to the Past as We Push to the Future

"This Full Moon in Cancer is a glorious moon - ripe and juicy with the fruit of the past, and pregnant with the potential of the future."

“This Full Moon in Cancer is a glorious moon – ripe and juicy with the fruit of the past, and pregnant with the potential of the future.”

Tonight, January 4, 2015, is first full moon of The New Year. Such a special light! Such a bitter-sweet reflection!

This full moon happens in Cancer, the sign of the past, of Mother, of nurture, of family history and ancient connection – of holding fast to the blood that binds us.

I’m feeling this moon as a strong pull compelling me to remember where I come from and what is important to hold onto from the past, just as I’m poised to make a powerful, intense, and totally fresh thrust toward the future – mending or purging relationships as needed – pressing my face bravely toward the winds of the unknown and the untried – bracing for the unexpected, while I stand true in the knowledge of my roots and my integrity.

This Full Moon in Cancer is a glorious moon – ripe and juicy with the fruit of the past, and pregnant with the potential of the future.

Feel it all.

For those who speak Astrologese, my words come from the symbolism of the Moon in Cancer in opposition to the Sun/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, both of which complete a Grand Cross to the South Node conjunct Uranus in Aries in opposition to the North Node in Libra. This Full Moon triggers the Cardinal Grand Cross from this past April, including the Uranus/Pluto square that was exact for the 6th time on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014. One more exact Uranus/Pluto square coming up in March 2015. Incredibly powerful stuff.

Full Moon in Cancer – January 4, 2015 at 11:53 PM Eastern Time – First Full Moon of the Year

Mercury is Definitely Retrograde…

Mercury-Statue

As most of you know, Mercury is definitely Retrograde.

The Retrograde was initiated this past Thursday with Mercury in Pisces in a tight connection to Neptune... some challenging areas to be aware of during this period of time are self-delusion, understanding what you want to understand rather than what is actually being communicated, excessive sensitivity, and feeling victimized. Areas of strength to operate within are your spiritual practice, allowing your imagination free reign, and connecting to your intuition and your sense of empathy and compassion.

As Mercury moves back into Aquarius on the evening of Valentine’s Day, it will be opposite the Full Moon in Leo. Think about that for a second – the Full Moon in Leo will be trying to come to balance with a Retrograde Mercury. Hhhhhmmmmm. Add to the mix that the Sun, Moon and Mercury are all connecting to Saturn (in a challenging configuration) and to Mars (easy flow) and you get a bit of a interesting mix of energies. My take is that we could get a little fixed in our attitudes and perhaps come up against that same emotional mindset in someone else… perhaps with a few fireworks. The point though may be to illuminate somewhere you’ve been stuck and, one way or another, help you out of it.

For those born between 1957 and early 1962, this Mercury Retrograde is going to transit across your natal Chiron – or get very close to it. If you know the house of your natal Chiron (it’s going to be in late Aquarius or early Pisces) that will help you navigate. Look to that house and how it’s aspected to other natal planets for areas due a bit of mending and restoring.

Wherever Chiron is, it’s to do with your karmic wound – and this Mercury Retrograde trigger could bring stuff up around that wound – maybe offering opportunities to talk about it, heal it, review it – or provide you with chances to help someone else with their wounds. When these issues come up, don’t flinch and push them back down. The beauty of Mercury R is that really fantastic material can arise from the deep psyche and the unconscious self. Take advantage of that.

Remember that Mercury Retrograde is a time for the “1-step back” part of the natural “2-steps forward, 1-step back” process… so take the time to review, reflect, and refine what you’ve already put in motion rather than being in hot pursuit of something entirely new.

Relax! This is nature’s gift telling you to slow down and engage in your internal navigation… there’ll be time for pushing forward again soon!

THE STATS: This particular Retrograde began Thursday, Feb 6, 2014 with Mercury at 3 degrees of Pisces and will run through Fri. Feb. 28, 2014 with Mercury going back to 18 degrees of Aquarius. The shadow period, that 16 to 21 day period after the Retrograde when Mercury is making its way back to the point where it first started its backwards trek, ends on March 21, 2014.

Happy New Year! It’s 2014! The Hoopla is past – Now let’s get to work with resolve.

Happy New Year 2014! Welcome to the path to your future!

So much has previously been written about this New Year you probably know this by now, but just in case you missed it – this New Year’s Day coincided with a very intense New Moon in Capricorn and a dynamic Grand Cross involving the Sun, Moon, Pluto, Mercury, Mars and Uranus. This is great stuff! Not fluffy – but profound. And powerful. Yes, the New Moon is past, but the energy present at the New Year lays the foundation for the energy for the next 12 months.

A New Moon in Capricorn happens on New Year’s Day once every 19 years, and 2014 just happens to be one of those very special years. A New Moon signifies New Beginnings – exactly the same as a New Year.

So much newness! So much potential. So much anticipation!

My best advice for this portal into 2014? Maintain the excitement if you can (there’s definitely that kind of energy to tap)… but more importantly, hunker down and get to work. Intensify your efforts. Use your mind to its deepest capacity and express your depths. Look internally to find your compass for the future and then plan your goals meticulously – but expect the unexpected. Ride that initial high energy wave with pointed self-direction and resolve – but also with an open mind and an open heart. Instead of giving your temper the lead, harness that rebellious energy to make the changes that you’ve needed to make for a long time. This is that year. It’s about harnessing the excitement and giving it a realistic platform upon which to thrive.

This particular New Moon pulls in the energy not only of both the Sun and Moon in Capricorn (ruled by the authoritative, ambitious, pragmatic high achiever Saturn), but also that of Mercury and Pluto (also in Capricorn), Uranus (in Aries) and Mars (in Libra), and a Retrograde Jupiter (in Cancer). All Cardinal signs (in other words initiating, intrepid, get things done signs!) Via a Grand Cross (lots of game-changing tension between all those energies.) Just… wow! There is an incredible amount of dynamic tension here propelling you to think about your core desires, your deepest needs, and then to set goals based on them. All this, while you’re feeling tense pulls to push forward and do something out of the box and beyond your comfort zone – but strive to balance those needs with deliberation and practicality – and intensity of feeling. You’re meant to find your path from the inside out (Jupiter Retrograde) and find the middle ground within all of these creative and powerful drives, and actually achieve what you start. Resolve to create and to achieve your resolutions. Once again, this is that year.

Go deep, use your brain, make a plan, work hard, express yourself, keep your energy up however you can, expect to be surprised, go for it and… achieve!

For a little insight, look back to the New Year of 1995 – that’s the last time there was a New Moon on New Year’s day in Capricorn. Can you remember anything about how you created your life that year? Let those memories inform your actions this year… either on how you did it well 19 years ago, or not so much. 🙂

Most recent New Years with New Moons in Capricorn are just below. Click on the links to see what happened in the news in those years – truly fascinating!
1995  (Oklahoma City Bombing)
1976  (Steve Jobs created Apple! US Supreme Court rules the death penalty is not cruel or unusual and is acceptable punishment.)
1957  (Russia launches Sputnik – the Space Age begins!)
1938  (Hitler marches into Austria. Up to 30,00 sent to concentration camps. Orson Welles broadcasts War of the Worlds wreaking havoc.)
1919  (1919’s New Moon missed being on Jan. 1 by just over 2 hours, occurring instead on Jan. 2 at 2:24 AM ET)

It’s extremely helpful to know WHERE the New Moon and this New Year’s Grand Cross involving all the planets listed above impact your birthchart. The houses that are involved tell you what areas of your life are being most heavily impacted. The aspects (geometric distance) that they make to the locations of the planets in your birthchart give us deep and meaningful information on how you can use these energies – or conversely, if you aren’t conscious – how they can use you.

For the astrology buffs among us:

THE KEY PLAYERS IN THIS PHENOMENAL NEW YEAR’S ALIGNMENT ARE:

SATURN (Ruler of Capricorn)
20°24′ Scorpio

Saturn is included here because he is the Ruler of the 5 planets in Capricorn at the New Moon – and because of the trine (120° distance apart) he makes to Jupiter who is opposing ALL the Capricorn stuff and is also part of the Grand Cross (at least 4 planets in square and opposition to each other creating a “cross” alignment signifying enormous dynamic tension that necessitates the need for breakthroughs and change.)
Keywords: resolve, persistence, self-discipline, pragmatism, achievement, integrity, authority, goals, commitment, work, career, more work – did I mention work? – time, karma, boundaries, obstacles

THE SUN
10°57′ Capricorn in exact conjunction (0° distance apart) with the Moon

Keywords: heart, Self, the Golden Child, who you’re becoming, where you want to shine, you core, your purpose

THE MOON
10°57′ Capricorn in exact conjunction (0° distance apart) with the Sun

Keywords: emotional self, instincts, immediate response to life, mother, nurture, home, tradition, the past, women, family, Soul needs

PLUTO
11°16′ Capricorn, in very close conjunction (0° distance apart) with the New Moon.

Keywords: death, transformation, rebirth, intensity, emotional depth, alchemy, magic, Soul healing, purging, rejuvenation after collapse, destruction, taboo subjects, sex, the dark, fear, extremes

MERCURY
12°50′ Capricorn in very close conjunction (0° distance apart) with the New Moon

Keywords: the mind, processing information, expressing knowledge, talking, thinking, connecting, technology

MARS
11°51′ Libra in a square aspect (90° distance apart) to the New Moon, Pluto, and Mercury, and in opposition (180° distance apart) to Uranus

Keywords: assertion, testosterone, taking affirmative action, aggression, self-oriented, desire nature, daring, the Hero, will power, risk, anger, rage, the Destroyer

URANUS
8°41′ Aries in a square aspect (90° distance apart) to the New Moon, Pluto, and Mercury, and in opposition (180° distance apart) to Mars

Keywords: sudden unexpected change, revolution, independence, rebellion, breaking down the status quo, erratic energy, electricity, brilliance, genious, ah ha moments, technology and science, the New Age, enlightenment, unique, outside accepted mores, catalyst

JUPITER (Retrograde)
16°03′ Cancer in opposition (180° distance apart) to the New Moon, Pluto, Mercury and Venus; and square to (90° distance apart) Mars and Uranus

Keywords: future, vision, wisdom, seeking, teaching, optimism, trust in life, quest for meaning, gypsy mentality, morality, religious fervor, self-righteousness, belief system

A great way to learn how to bring the meanings of all the different energies that collide when several different planets align is to play with the keywords. Spend some time creating sentences and phrases with different keywords from the different planets… it’s fun to see what you come up with and can really broaden your perspective on the kinds of energies that are available for you to tap into!

(By the way, VENUS is also in the sign of Capricorn and Retrograde at 26°42′. She’s not technically part of the New Moon conjunction or the Grand Cross – but she’s there in the same sign, in the mix, and important to the New Year energies, especially through her wide square to the North and South Nodes of the Moon. Fodder for another discussion…)

Here’s an image of the New Moon Chart on Jan 1, 2014 at 6:14 AM from the perspective of Atlanta, GA. I’ve very poorly drawn black lines in the center of the chart to show the Grand Cross.
