Knowing and Sharing Your Heart This Valentine’s Day – Session Specials through March 1, 2017

valentine-hearts-pink-lovebirds

I just want to say that being in relationship is just as much about knowing and understanding yourself as it is about knowing and understanding who you’re in relationship with… right?

If you could look at a map that could help you understand how you’re designed when it comes to relating with others, wouldn’t you want to read and understand that map? And if you’re in relationship, what about your partner’s map? To that end I’m delighted to offer…

Valentine’s Day Consultations Specials

Are you single? Great! We’ll look at your birthchart specifically from the context of relationship: your expectations; your way of communicating; your desire nature; how you give nurture and how you expect to be nurtured, where you’re willing to commit… What are the ideals of relationship that anchor you? What did your parents bring to your relationship beliefs? This is a way to help you look deeply into your own heart…

Regularly $150, now $125 until March 1, 2017  ($25 savings)   click Client Info Form

Are you partnered? Wonderful. We’ll look at the symbolism between your birthchart and your partner’s. We’ll find the places you connect – and potentially disconnect. We’ll look at how communication, passion, nurture, and expectations overlap or push against each other. We can check in on finances and what “home” means to each of you. We may even be able to come up with a narrative from your past together that will inform your present relationship. Pretty awesome.

Regularly $185, now $155 until March 1, 2017  ($30 savings)   click Client Info Form

Are you interested in exploring your relationship with your son or daughter? This is always an amazingly helpful and eye-opening session. Exploring yourself and your child together is a fantastic tool toward more inspired parenting, and happier kids.

Regularly $185, now $155 until March 1, 2017  ($30 savings)   click Client Info Form

When you’re ready to book your Valentine’s Special, please fill in the Client Info Form here, and in answer to the question “Is there anything else you’d like me to know before our session?” just answer that you want the Valentines Special and specify “Single” or “Relationship.” If “Relationship” please fill in your partner’s birth information there as well. (birth date, birth time, birth place)

I’m looking forward to focusing on you and your relationships, and to bringing a more heart-centered, more accepting way to be with yourself and the ones you love.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy New Year! It’s 2014! The Hoopla is past – Now let’s get to work with resolve.

Happy New Year 2014! Welcome to the path to your future!

So much has previously been written about this New Year you probably know this by now, but just in case you missed it – this New Year’s Day coincided with a very intense New Moon in Capricorn and a dynamic Grand Cross involving the Sun, Moon, Pluto, Mercury, Mars and Uranus. This is great stuff! Not fluffy – but profound. And powerful. Yes, the New Moon is past, but the energy present at the New Year lays the foundation for the energy for the next 12 months.

A New Moon in Capricorn happens on New Year’s Day once every 19 years, and 2014 just happens to be one of those very special years. A New Moon signifies New Beginnings – exactly the same as a New Year.

So much newness! So much potential. So much anticipation!

My best advice for this portal into 2014? Maintain the excitement if you can (there’s definitely that kind of energy to tap)… but more importantly, hunker down and get to work. Intensify your efforts. Use your mind to its deepest capacity and express your depths. Look internally to find your compass for the future and then plan your goals meticulously – but expect the unexpected. Ride that initial high energy wave with pointed self-direction and resolve – but also with an open mind and an open heart. Instead of giving your temper the lead, harness that rebellious energy to make the changes that you’ve needed to make for a long time. This is that year. It’s about harnessing the excitement and giving it a realistic platform upon which to thrive.

This particular New Moon pulls in the energy not only of both the Sun and Moon in Capricorn (ruled by the authoritative, ambitious, pragmatic high achiever Saturn), but also that of Mercury and Pluto (also in Capricorn), Uranus (in Aries) and Mars (in Libra), and a Retrograde Jupiter (in Cancer). All Cardinal signs (in other words initiating, intrepid, get things done signs!) Via a Grand Cross (lots of game-changing tension between all those energies.) Just… wow! There is an incredible amount of dynamic tension here propelling you to think about your core desires, your deepest needs, and then to set goals based on them. All this, while you’re feeling tense pulls to push forward and do something out of the box and beyond your comfort zone – but strive to balance those needs with deliberation and practicality – and intensity of feeling. You’re meant to find your path from the inside out (Jupiter Retrograde) and find the middle ground within all of these creative and powerful drives, and actually achieve what you start. Resolve to create and to achieve your resolutions. Once again, this is that year.

Go deep, use your brain, make a plan, work hard, express yourself, keep your energy up however you can, expect to be surprised, go for it and… achieve!

For a little insight, look back to the New Year of 1995 – that’s the last time there was a New Moon on New Year’s day in Capricorn. Can you remember anything about how you created your life that year? Let those memories inform your actions this year… either on how you did it well 19 years ago, or not so much. 🙂

Most recent New Years with New Moons in Capricorn are just below. Click on the links to see what happened in the news in those years – truly fascinating!
1995  (Oklahoma City Bombing)
1976  (Steve Jobs created Apple! US Supreme Court rules the death penalty is not cruel or unusual and is acceptable punishment.)
1957  (Russia launches Sputnik – the Space Age begins!)
1938  (Hitler marches into Austria. Up to 30,00 sent to concentration camps. Orson Welles broadcasts War of the Worlds wreaking havoc.)
1919  (1919’s New Moon missed being on Jan. 1 by just over 2 hours, occurring instead on Jan. 2 at 2:24 AM ET)

It’s extremely helpful to know WHERE the New Moon and this New Year’s Grand Cross involving all the planets listed above impact your birthchart. The houses that are involved tell you what areas of your life are being most heavily impacted. The aspects (geometric distance) that they make to the locations of the planets in your birthchart give us deep and meaningful information on how you can use these energies – or conversely, if you aren’t conscious – how they can use you.

For the astrology buffs among us:

THE KEY PLAYERS IN THIS PHENOMENAL NEW YEAR’S ALIGNMENT ARE:

SATURN (Ruler of Capricorn)
20°24′ Scorpio

Saturn is included here because he is the Ruler of the 5 planets in Capricorn at the New Moon – and because of the trine (120° distance apart) he makes to Jupiter who is opposing ALL the Capricorn stuff and is also part of the Grand Cross (at least 4 planets in square and opposition to each other creating a “cross” alignment signifying enormous dynamic tension that necessitates the need for breakthroughs and change.)
Keywords: resolve, persistence, self-discipline, pragmatism, achievement, integrity, authority, goals, commitment, work, career, more work – did I mention work? – time, karma, boundaries, obstacles

THE SUN
10°57′ Capricorn in exact conjunction (0° distance apart) with the Moon

Keywords: heart, Self, the Golden Child, who you’re becoming, where you want to shine, you core, your purpose

THE MOON
10°57′ Capricorn in exact conjunction (0° distance apart) with the Sun

Keywords: emotional self, instincts, immediate response to life, mother, nurture, home, tradition, the past, women, family, Soul needs

PLUTO
11°16′ Capricorn, in very close conjunction (0° distance apart) with the New Moon.

Keywords: death, transformation, rebirth, intensity, emotional depth, alchemy, magic, Soul healing, purging, rejuvenation after collapse, destruction, taboo subjects, sex, the dark, fear, extremes

MERCURY
12°50′ Capricorn in very close conjunction (0° distance apart) with the New Moon

Keywords: the mind, processing information, expressing knowledge, talking, thinking, connecting, technology

MARS
11°51′ Libra in a square aspect (90° distance apart) to the New Moon, Pluto, and Mercury, and in opposition (180° distance apart) to Uranus

Keywords: assertion, testosterone, taking affirmative action, aggression, self-oriented, desire nature, daring, the Hero, will power, risk, anger, rage, the Destroyer

URANUS
8°41′ Aries in a square aspect (90° distance apart) to the New Moon, Pluto, and Mercury, and in opposition (180° distance apart) to Mars

Keywords: sudden unexpected change, revolution, independence, rebellion, breaking down the status quo, erratic energy, electricity, brilliance, genious, ah ha moments, technology and science, the New Age, enlightenment, unique, outside accepted mores, catalyst

JUPITER (Retrograde)
16°03′ Cancer in opposition (180° distance apart) to the New Moon, Pluto, Mercury and Venus; and square to (90° distance apart) Mars and Uranus

Keywords: future, vision, wisdom, seeking, teaching, optimism, trust in life, quest for meaning, gypsy mentality, morality, religious fervor, self-righteousness, belief system

A great way to learn how to bring the meanings of all the different energies that collide when several different planets align is to play with the keywords. Spend some time creating sentences and phrases with different keywords from the different planets… it’s fun to see what you come up with and can really broaden your perspective on the kinds of energies that are available for you to tap into!

(By the way, VENUS is also in the sign of Capricorn and Retrograde at 26°42′. She’s not technically part of the New Moon conjunction or the Grand Cross – but she’s there in the same sign, in the mix, and important to the New Year energies, especially through her wide square to the North and South Nodes of the Moon. Fodder for another discussion…)

Here’s an image of the New Moon Chart on Jan 1, 2014 at 6:14 AM from the perspective of Atlanta, GA. I’ve very poorly drawn black lines in the center of the chart to show the Grand Cross.

It’s that time again – Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio, Oct. 21 – Nov. 10, 2013

Mercury-Retrograde-Samhain-Halloween

Just a reminder that Mercury has been slowing down over the past few weeks and stationed (meaning he appears to have stopped) at 18 degrees of Scorpio on Friday, Oct. 18, and will turn Retrograde on Oct. 21. He will be Retrograde until Nov. 10, reaching back to 2 degrees of Scorpio. (Read the article Mercury Retrograde: The Unlikely Healing Gift here for an in-depth look at the meaning of this phenomenon in general, a bit of Mercury mythology, and how to navigate the Retrograde with better ease and understanding.)

If you’ve been feeling, like I have, that it seems Mercury Retrograde has already been happening for a while, remember that there are two shadow periods during every Retrograde phase. The pre-shadow that occurs for about 2 weeks when things feel as though they’re slowing down prior to the actual Retrograde and when, if you pay close attention, you are getting clues as to how a particular Retrograde period will impact you; and the post-shadow that occurs for about 3 weeks afterwards, when things are picking back up, but you are still integrating and seeking resolution. So really, the entire Mercury Retrograde phase takes about 8 weeks.

Mercury-Retrograde-diagram-of-movementOur typically fleet footed planet appears to slow down, stop, and then turn and trudge in the opposite direction once every 4 months. This phenomenon occurs when Mercury is at his greatest distance from the Sun (when he appears as the Evening or Morning Star), and then turns back toward the Earth, appearing to us as though he’s going backwards. It’s as though Mercury is conferring with the Sun who gives him information to bring back to Earth for the use of us mere mortals – thus Mercury’s ancient reputation as the Messenger of the Gods.

If you know your birthchart, look to the house that contains Scorpio, and to any planets in that house to gain understanding of how this particular Retrograde period will impact you. Also look to any planets in your birthchart that fall between 2 and 18 degrees and find what sort of angle (the geometric distance between) this Mercury in Scorpio is making to them. This will give you further insights.

Folks born between 1956 and 1970 all have Neptune in Scorpio. If you were born between late 1956 and late 1966 your Neptune is somewhere between 0 and 22 degrees of Scorpio, meaning that it is in range of being impacted by this particular Mercury Retrograde. If your natal Neptune is also in aspect to (having a significant geometric distance between) any of your natal personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars), then this Mercury Retrograde period could be a significant one for you.

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio brings our inner attention to probing topics like sexuality, long-standing emotional issues, death and dying, our deepest psychological fears, profound shamanic healing and making the unconscious conscious. The tendency and purpose is to thin the veil between our typical movement away from these somewhat taboo areas of life and bring them into greater awareness – and ultimately greater integration. Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio can help us heal our Shadow. (What more perfect energy could be afoot for Samhain / Halloween / All Saints Day when the veil between the living and dead is reportedly thin, allowing connection between the two worlds!)

Mercury connected to Neptune (just for those late forties and fifty-somethings among us that I mentioned earlier) is a complex combination of energies. On the one hand Mercury and Neptune combined can bring up visionary experiences, loosen the imagination, prompt us to express our dreams and give voice to the images that arise from our Souls. On the other hand we can feel muddled in our thinking, express ourselves chaotically, or tune in to our fondest modes of escape – which can translate into a Mercury Retrograde double whammy. Watch for your tendencies, one way or the other, but understand that you have the choice of which way to direct yourself.

If you’d like help figuring this Mercury Retrograde phase out in your own life, please contact me ASAP for a Mercury Retrograde consult by emailing astrology@michellegregg.com. It will only set you back $25. Mayhem possible during Mercury Retrograde = frustration and anxiety. Navigating Mercury Retrograde with confidence = priceless. 🙂

Writer’s Astrology: Plot & Character Development – and Overcoming Writer’s Block

Get Started Today (or get finished!) Writing the Novel,
Play or Screenplay of Your Dreams!

When we work together using astrology to develop your creative project – your novel, play, or screenplay – you’ll be amazed at how easily you’ll be inspired and able to move forward with your story and how in-depth you can create your characters. With the charts we select for your main characters, they’ll come to life with all their facets clearly showing. Your characters will express the complexities that every real person is born with. And you’ll be able to use the astrological time-line to understand what happens throughout your character’s lives, and use this time-line to develop what happens next and next and next in your story. This is great stuff! No more writer’s block or wondering where your characters are heading… this is the opportunity to write the great story you’ve been waiting to write!

Testimonial:

“I’ve just completed Michelle’s 5-session package on Writer’s Astrology: Character and Plot Development and Overcoming Writer’s Block. I’m notoriously bad at taking the time to know my characters before I write. I just want to jump in and begin the story. Thank heavens for Michelle. We started with my heroine’s birth chart, followed with her transit chart, brought in the hero’s birth chart, then his transit chart, and ended with a composite chart for both. I’ve never had so much fun with my characters. They’ve lived in my head for a couple years now while I’ve sorted out possible story directions, so I knew certain attributes and emotions. But the charts and Michelle’s interpretive insights gave me a whole new perspective on their psychology profiles, their interactions with other people, their goals, resistance, needs, and fears. The transit charts wonderfully illuminated their personal journeys at the time of their meeting and showed the challenges and opportunities they would face with each other. I’m so indebted to Michelle’s brilliant understanding and explanation of astrology as it pertains to human behavior. What a time-saver these sessions are. And we had so much fun exploring! I have so many ideas in my head that my keyboard stays hot with writing all the juicy scenes that come directly from our extensive work together. I highly recommend these sessions to any writer who wants a deeper understanding of their characters, a more complex plot, and to have fun writing.”

I’ve Been Selected for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award!

My First Blogging Award! The Very Inspiring Blogger Award…

I’m delighted to share that I’ve been given a wonderful nod by my one of my fellow bloggers – and how cool is that? And how surprising?

One of the things about publishing your own written work is that you never know, once you press that “publish” button, how what you’ve written will be received. This comes as such a happy confirmation that I must be doing something right, and that someone out there in the land of the internet is being inspired!  I’m so honored and grateful!

Thank you anonymous super nice, smart, literary guy from The Living Notebook blog for nominating me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award

I’m so happy you thought of me!

The Process

When you’re selected for this award there are a couple of reciprocal rules to follow to continue to spread the love. A bit of paying-it-forward so to speak (except there’s no real anonymity involved) , and I LOVE stuff like that!

1. Link back to the person who nominated you:
Thank you again, The Living Notebook!

2. Post the award image to your page: (Lovely Victorian image above!)

3. Tell 7 facts about yourself:

1. I LOVE my work as a Counseling Astrologer… helping folks have happier, more joyful lives is my absolute passion! Watching people go from uncertainty to confidence and then on to positive change is so fulfilling.

2. I’m the daughter of an Appalachian farm girl and a United Methodist Minister, and the mother of a fabulous 15-year-old-son, Ian, who is an actor.

3. I’m a vegetarian and a darn good cook!

4. Besides being a Counseling Astrologer I’m a big animal activist and belong to several different Animal Activist groups. I used to have 2 dogs and 10 cats at one time. Did they call me the “crazy cat lady?” Yes. They also called me the “pied piper” since all 10 cats would follow along every day when I walked the dogs. Too cute! And I used to do greyhound rescue work.

5. I LOVE to travel and used to live in the UK and in Germany.

6. My biggest as yet unfulfilled dream is to be a published novelist.

7. I once worked as an herbalist’s assistant and loved being so connected to Mother Earth and her healing gifts.

4. Nominate 7 other bloggers and let them know they’ve been nominated:

I’ve listed my 7 blog winners in no particular order – so the ones closer to the bottom of the list are just as wonderful as the ones at the top. Please explore them all with equal fervor and delight!

1. Auntie Moon with CJ Wright – Wonderfully insightful astrology, tarot and even cooking with astrology! Yum.

2. Love & A Six-Foot Leash– One family’s quest to open minds, win hearts, and save lives through dog fostering. This is a pit-bull friendly blog!

3. in case i’m gone– This blog is written by Leigh to her son Loch. Leigh was diagnosed with a rare disease and given 2-3 years to live when her baby boy was six-months old. In her words, “This blog is an attempt to record myself. Who I am and who I was, in case I’m gone.”

4. Soul SeedsRev. Anthony David, a wonderfully insightful and inspiring Unitarian Universalist minister in Atlanta, writes Soul Seeds – true food for thought. I LOVE this blog! Rev. David covers LOTS of topics, and some of my favorites are Science & Religion, Health & Wellness, Philosophy and Vocation & Calling.

5. Melody’s Metaphysical Musings– A blog about Spiritual Growth, Spiritual Purpose & Spiritual Awakening from Melody Larson, a freelance writer and editor by profession, a spiritual & metaphysical author by passion, and a “conscious evolutionary” by philosophy. Awesome!

6. Kristin Wartman – Kristin is a food writer living in Brooklyn. She focuses on the intersections of food, health, politics, and culture. And let me tell you she doesn’t mind pushing the envelope to get us to open our minds to the truth about what we eat.

7. Richard Reeve – Dreaming Awake – This is a beautifully artistic and Neptunian-like blog. A window into the dreamy and nebulous reality of what it is to be human from a Jungian perspective. Richard Reeve  is a candidate at the C. G. Jung Institute of New York where he is training to be Jungian Analyst. This blog is a stunner and makes you think!

Once again, I’m so honored and delighted to receive this Very Inspiring Blogger Award! I hope all of you reading and the 7 I’ve nominated will be just as happy as I am!

Just Had to Share this New Testimonial…

One of my most faithful clients, Andrea Lea, Owner/Trainer/Yogi of Embody Studio in Covington, GA, wrote this to me just a couple of days ago and sent it out to her clients to introduce me to them for an upcoming event that I’m doing there.

Here’s the testimonial:

“I cannot tell you how much I have gotten out of my many, many consultations with Michelle! I first went to her when my daughter and I were in our most difficult stage EVER and I got so much clarity from Michelle on our relationship that the months-long challenge seemed to dissolve almost immediately.

I am not well-versed enough in how astrology works to try to explain it to you. Just know that Michelle is not into trying to predict your future – it is surprisingly scientific and you will be amazed at what riddles she can help you solve. Always – ALWAYS – I come away from a session with Michelle feeling inspired and calmer, and that I am a part of a great mystery that is infinite in its reaches. And THAT brings me a smile and a sense of peace like you won’t believe! Sometimes, it feels like you have strayed from the path – with Michelle I am always reminded that I am on the path, right where I need to be, mystery and all.

Expect to be shocked at how this total stranger understands your deep emotional complexities (and those of your kids/husbands/wives/biz partners)AND gives you concrete tools to transcend the icky parts! Really.”

I was truly humbled when I read this.  And of course I was in touch with Andrea to give her all my gratitude! You never know how you will affect someone, and it’s always a source of joy and amazement to hear that your work is… working! I just had to share…

One of my newest clients, Isabella Vickers, an inspired artist (www.IsabellaVickers.com) and Jungian Oriented Psychotherapist at Living Air Dialogue in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, sent this wonderful testimonial to me after our first session last week. As a result of our amazing session we are collaborating to create a new deck of art cards that will combine the symbolism of  Astrology and Jungian Psychology to be used as a tool for growth, evolution and inspiration in both counseling and in personal practice. Yay!! Here’s to synchronicity and a true meeting of mind and hearts. Thank you so much Isabella!

The beautiful painting below is just one glorious example of the art that Isabella creates!

Here’s the testimonial:

“Michelle, our time together today was so special and deeply meaningful! Dare I say — Life changing?!!! YES! In so many ways and on so many levels, I can feel the shifts beginning already because my breathing is deeper and the air is sweeter. Thank you!!!”
