I’ve Been Selected for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award!

My First Blogging Award! The Very Inspiring Blogger Award…

I’m delighted to share that I’ve been given a wonderful nod by my one of my fellow bloggers – and how cool is that? And how surprising?

One of the things about publishing your own written work is that you never know, once you press that “publish” button, how what you’ve written will be received. This comes as such a happy confirmation that I must be doing something right, and that someone out there in the land of the internet is being inspired!  I’m so honored and grateful!

Thank you anonymous super nice, smart, literary guy from The Living Notebook blog for nominating me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award

I’m so happy you thought of me!

The Process

When you’re selected for this award there are a couple of reciprocal rules to follow to continue to spread the love. A bit of paying-it-forward so to speak (except there’s no real anonymity involved) , and I LOVE stuff like that!

1. Link back to the person who nominated you:
Thank you again, The Living Notebook!

2. Post the award image to your page: (Lovely Victorian image above!)

3. Tell 7 facts about yourself:

1. I LOVE my work as a Counseling Astrologer… helping folks have happier, more joyful lives is my absolute passion! Watching people go from uncertainty to confidence and then on to positive change is so fulfilling.

2. I’m the daughter of an Appalachian farm girl and a United Methodist Minister, and the mother of a fabulous 15-year-old-son, Ian, who is an actor.

3. I’m a vegetarian and a darn good cook!

4. Besides being a Counseling Astrologer I’m a big animal activist and belong to several different Animal Activist groups. I used to have 2 dogs and 10 cats at one time. Did they call me the “crazy cat lady?” Yes. They also called me the “pied piper” since all 10 cats would follow along every day when I walked the dogs. Too cute! And I used to do greyhound rescue work.

5. I LOVE to travel and used to live in the UK and in Germany.

6. My biggest as yet unfulfilled dream is to be a published novelist.

7. I once worked as an herbalist’s assistant and loved being so connected to Mother Earth and her healing gifts.

4. Nominate 7 other bloggers and let them know they’ve been nominated:

I’ve listed my 7 blog winners in no particular order – so the ones closer to the bottom of the list are just as wonderful as the ones at the top. Please explore them all with equal fervor and delight!

1. Auntie Moon with CJ Wright – Wonderfully insightful astrology, tarot and even cooking with astrology! Yum.

2. Love & A Six-Foot Leash– One family’s quest to open minds, win hearts, and save lives through dog fostering. This is a pit-bull friendly blog!

3. in case i’m gone– This blog is written by Leigh to her son Loch. Leigh was diagnosed with a rare disease and given 2-3 years to live when her baby boy was six-months old. In her words, “This blog is an attempt to record myself. Who I am and who I was, in case I’m gone.”

4. Soul SeedsRev. Anthony David, a wonderfully insightful and inspiring Unitarian Universalist minister in Atlanta, writes Soul Seeds – true food for thought. I LOVE this blog! Rev. David covers LOTS of topics, and some of my favorites are Science & Religion, Health & Wellness, Philosophy and Vocation & Calling.

5. Melody’s Metaphysical Musings– A blog about Spiritual Growth, Spiritual Purpose & Spiritual Awakening from Melody Larson, a freelance writer and editor by profession, a spiritual & metaphysical author by passion, and a “conscious evolutionary” by philosophy. Awesome!

6. Kristin Wartman – Kristin is a food writer living in Brooklyn. She focuses on the intersections of food, health, politics, and culture. And let me tell you she doesn’t mind pushing the envelope to get us to open our minds to the truth about what we eat.

7. Richard Reeve – Dreaming Awake – This is a beautifully artistic and Neptunian-like blog. A window into the dreamy and nebulous reality of what it is to be human from a Jungian perspective. Richard Reeve  is a candidate at the C. G. Jung Institute of New York where he is training to be Jungian Analyst. This blog is a stunner and makes you think!

Once again, I’m so honored and delighted to receive this Very Inspiring Blogger Award! I hope all of you reading and the 7 I’ve nominated will be just as happy as I am!

New Moon in Cancer Meditation

The Dark of the Moon in Cancer – July 19, 2012
On the day of new moon, the moon rises when the sun rises. It sets when the sun sets. It crosses the sky with the sun during the day… and she is not visible to us at all. This is the time to turn inward, regenerate and restore in preparation for a new beginning…

This New Moon is proving to be such a powerful event for me! This evening I hosted a New Moon Tele-Class and Meditation, and was just elated with all the folks who joined the call and shared this special time. Thanks to all of you!

Now I want to share our meditation with everyone. Enjoy it for the next 2 days when we’re in the Dark of the Moon phase, and into the next two weeks before the Full Moon on August 1.

In creating this meditation I focused specifically on the energies of the New Moon and Sun in Cancer in a square aspect (a 90 degree angle) to Saturn. It is meant to get you to that space of the Dark of the Moon – to experience the healing energy of darkness – the fertile dark womb of creation – and to become refreshed, restored and to regenerate your spirit in that space so that you are ready for a new beginning at the Crescent Moon.

Listen to the meditation here.

Or read the meditation just below:

New Moon in Cancer Meditation – July 19, 2012

This is a guided imagery meditation. I’m using Earth imagery and Water imagery since the New Moon chart shows the Sun and Moon in the Water sign of Cancer, and they are both strongly connected to the planet Saturn – the Earthiest of planetary energies.

The best way to experience this meditation is sitting comfortably upright with your bare feet on the ground or the floor, with closed eyes and an open heart and mind.

Relax your face. Smile and release any tension there. Relax your shoulders. Gently lift them and let them fall into a comfortable place. Shake your arms and hands lightly and then allow them to become comfortable and loose, resting your hands in your lap. Breathe deeply into your torso and as you breathe out twist easily and gently from side to side, then come to center and settle into an easy position. Now gently shake your legs and move them from side to side for a couple of breaths, then bring them to stillness, releasing any tension in them… just let them relax and become heavy, allowing your feet on the floor to support them gently. Now lift your feet a little and wiggle your toes and circle your ankles and let them come to rest, planting them firmly on the floor again, knees bent and wide, easily supporting your relaxed legs. Breathe very deeply, in and out, at a natural and comfortable rate.

Even gentle breaths – getting deeper and deeper as you relax.

Breathing slowly, slowing your heart rate. In. Out. In. Out.

Now the darkness behind your eyelids is growing even darker. Darker with every breath.

Now empty your mind. Free yourself into a blissful conscious darkness.  Breathe there, relaxing in pleasure.

Now breathe your breath into your heart imagining warm, gentle dark hands lovingly holding and supporting your heart-space. Breathe gently and feel the love that is offered.

Breathe into your breasts. Let them become full with your breath and the loving presence of the Great Mother who offers perfect nourishment and comfort, a solace from the world of light.

Breathe into your stomach. Allow it to expand with the nourishment that is offered from the Mother and know that it will digest everything you need to assimilate and move forward perfectly.

Breathe into your womb. Feel it awaken and quicken with your divinely inspired creativity and intuition.

Now, imagine that you you’re lying down in a dark, wild wooded place. Smell the damp earth. Hear the sounds of the night creatures. Listen to the music of the dark flowing stream that runs nearby. Know instinctively that you are home here – completely protected and safe. Breathe in the sensation of safeness, even in the velvet darkness of the moonless night.  No sight is needed. Everything is understood through your feelings and intuition. Lie here in perfect safety and comfort, connecting your breathe to the pulse of the earth, understanding that the Earth is your mother and safe haven.  Breathe deeply and gently.  In. Out. In. Out.

Now ever so slowly and gently imagine that you sit up, legs crossed in meditation pose, continuing to breathe deeply, eyes staying closed, feeling safe within the dark womb of the woods, and settle your 1st Chakra, the area of the tail bone, onto the warm ground. Feel it connect with the Earth. Feel yourself becoming one with the Earth. Settle deeply upon it. You are connecting with the ancient feminine, understanding that you are part of that powerful source and as such, also ancient and indestructible. Your first Chakra is soaking in the infinite support and love that the Mother offers, healing and replenishing.

Now that you are grounded in pure Mother Love, slowly rise and walk to the edge of the dark night stream. Move confidently and with grace and power through the black, feral night. Squat down beside the clear flowing stream, placing your hands in the warm, pulsing waters. Bring the water to your face and as you become accustomed to the feeling, lie down with your whole body in the water and feel it flow and contour around you. The water of the Mother, the water of life is cleansing your body and soul and opening you to feeling wholeness as a woman, a mother, a protector, a nourisher, of yourself and of those you love. Feel the sensation of the liquid warmth and revel in it with joy, understanding that pleasure, feeling, and sensation are your right. Breathe deeply and gently as the water flows over and around you, bringing you peace in the darkness.

Breathe. In. Out.

Breathe. In. Out.

Now, feeling restored and regenerated, imagine that you slowly rise and lift your arms to the night sky. As you do your body is dried and warmed by a comforting breeze. Walk with a lifted spirit onto the shore and become aware again of the soft dark earth at your feet. The rustlings of dark nature all around you. You sense that the dark moon is passing and that a tiny sliver of light will be visible when you walk from the forest into and open field.  You are refreshed and your light consciousness begins to flow as you get your first glimpse of the lovely crescent of the New Moon.

You have been nourished, regenerated, made whole in the Dark of the Moon and now it is time to release newly formed ideas into your Creative Spirit and out into the world. Just as the Moon begins to show herself anew, so can you, with confidence and surety. You are supported and loved. Your creativity is poised to spring forward.

When you’re ready, begin to bring your breathing back to a normal pace. Still sitting, still with eyes closed. Still relaxed – but with stirring thoughts and an emerging idea. Breathe. Smile.

Now slowly open your eyes, feeling refreshed and restored.

If this was meaningful to you and you’d like to go further with this healing energy, I invite you to a consultation with me so that we can get very specific about how and where in your life this energy impacts you.

Every now and then go away, have a little rest and relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer; since to remain constantly at work will cause you to lose power of judgment…Go some distance away because the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance, and a lack of harmony or proportion is more readily seen.
~Leonardo Da Vinci

Hermes by Praxiteles - 1898Astrologically speaking, there is a particular cycle, which while not always comfortable, has the result of great benefit:  the apparent backwards motion of a very mischievous planet. Many of us wouldn’t normally consider a period of Mercury Retrograde a blessing, yet in nature, there is rule:  two steps forward, one step back.  Without this rule, we’d all experience burn-out, fatigue, frustration and end up relinquishing our health. We must have a period of rest and reflection to maintain balance, and that is precisely what is offered during any Mercury Retrograde cycle.

Traditionally, the 3 week period of Mercury Retrograde (which is the appearance from Earth that Mercury is traveling backwards) that occurs approximately once every four months is that awful time when our cars breakdown, our computers crash, we miss our flight by seconds, our presentations flop, we’re accident prone, we can’t write or think clearly, and when we open our mouths to speak we say the wrong thing or nobody is listening. We are not meant to make any major purchases like houses, cars, boats, insurance, etc., and we are never ever to enter into any contract, (including marriage and mortgage refinances) during this time. People await Mercury’s back peddling atremble with trepidation and fear. From here, it doesn’t sound like much to be grateful for…

Certainly the above is a blatant exaggeration. I pity the poor Soul who could actually have all of these communication and transportation problems during one three week period of time. Yet, this cyclical period didn’t get its bad reputation without reason.  So what is it then, really? Why does Mercury Retrograde affect communication and transportation? Why do we lose our minds temporarily? Let’s look briefly at the mythological Mercury so that we can begin to make sense of, and feel gratitude for, this recurring phenomenon.

Mercury the Trickster – God of Communication, Technology & Transportation

Mythologically, Mercury (Hermes in Greek) represents several archetypes:  the Trickster; the Messenger; the Guide and Companion; the Psychopompos (the deliverer of the newly dead to Hades); the Puer Eternis (the forever young and charming fool); the Thief; the Teacher; and the Magician, to name more than a few. You may well ask how one God can wear so many different hats? The answer is that of all the Gods, Mercury alone has the power to mimic and portray the attributes of all the other Gods. His cleverness allows him to be a virtual chameleon, and because of this virtue he was favored by his father, Jupiter (Zeus), and was constantly sent on missions to rescue other Divine children, or to lead inept mortals currently in favor out of trouble.

Mercury is witty, confident, competent, and utterly without conscience. He is constantly on the move, gathering information, analyzing it and either acting upon it, or stowing it away to be dealt with later. He is pure mental process, the governor of the Mind. He is easily bored and often up to mischief. Because he achieved such elevated status as messenger of the Gods, he became the patron of all communication.  Because he is so clever and forward thinking his influence is over all devices of communication, even as they are being invented. Because he journeyed via many modes between Olympus and Earth, and to and from Hades so often, and because he led so many, mortal and immortal alike, on their journeys (whether on an adventure, out of a misadventure, or to lead the spirits of the dead to the underworld forever), Mercury has become the patron of travel and all modes of transportation. Hence the breakdown in communication, transportation, and travel when Mercury decides to move backwards, rather than forward!

I believe it highly unlikely that the Universe has come up with a 3-week period of time 3 times a year simply to annoy and frustrate us in our attempts to get smoothly through our lives. Undoubtedly there is a deeper meaning underlying the mishaps and miscommunications that occur during Mercury’s retrogression. Consider this. The natural order of things produces periods of wakefulness and attention, and in balance, periods of rest and simple awareness. The pattern of waking and sleeping created by the rising and setting of the Sun is the most obvious example that comes to mind. The turning of the Seasons also mirrors the need for active attention (Fall) followed by a period of restful awareness and recharging through being still and tuning inward (Winter). So it is with Mercury who represents the energy and archetype that resonates with our inherent need and desire to communicate our thoughts, ideas, and artistry out into the world around us. The period of Mercury Retrograde, then, is an opportunity for restful awareness provided by Universal Law. It’s a time to turn away from full-tilt active attention to our forward driving lives. It’s the time to rest and refresh the Spirit; to re-evaluate where we are, what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and how we’re doing life. All of the planets, not only Mercury, have their own periods of retrogression. Mercury, because it is closest to the Sun and has the smallest orbit, simply retrogresses more frequently than the other planets, hence the greater common knowledge of this particular planet’s patterns and its apparent “effects” upon us.

Subconscious MindNow knowing what we know about Mercury, his mythology, and the natural need for times of rest and inner rediscovery, the question becomes “How do we best utilize this time to our greatest benefit, and to the purpose for which it exists?”  The beginning of the answer to this question comes in the form of understanding that during our typical forward motion, we don’t process much of the information waiting in our unconscious minds. Information is there steeping, awaiting a moment to enter the consciousness in order to provide the thrust toward transformation that is appropriate for the time. Mercury Retrograde periods are when we should take the opportunity to rest and restore ourselves through self-evaluation. During this rest, Mercury will surprise us by dipping down into our unconsciousness returning upward with the most timely and incredible material. We receive a gift that we would have otherwise missed without this period of re-connecting with our internal selves. If we use this time wisely, we will consciously process this gift, alchemically transforming our current paradigm for the new and more relevant one. This process is extraordinarily healing, especially if in the months prior to the current retrogression, we have been experiencing a time of personal transition.

Another incredible gift of the Mercury Retrograde period is that we can place our current projects on hold, or put them on the back burner, so that they can in their turn steep and develop into what is needed toward our best interests. We may feel, however, that we cannot let go of, re-direct, or re-schedule a project or other imminent event. There are deadlines and responsibilities, and we can’t possibly base our modern lives on some ancient form of calendaring like Astrology! However, if we do not, if we resist the natural cycle of moving from forward attention to simple resting awareness, of the two-steps-forward and one-step back nature of all things, THEN we pay the price by experiencing many of the things listed at the beginning of this article. Erin Sullivan, who wrote the preeminent volume on retrogression available today, titled Retrograde Planets, states “The essence of Mercury Retrograde cannot be controlled by the will and when we think we are smugly in control we are most likely to experience the Trickster in all his magnificent glory.” When we can accept this retrogression as the teaching and healing device that it is intended to be we can stop anticipating it with dread and anxiety.  We can, instead, receive the gift graciously, recharge and realign ourselves with our true nature and purpose, and then pause to give thanks for the opportunity to do so!

Astrology Symbols - MercuryWe have, as many consciously understand, through socialization and the raising of technology to such godlike degrees (while leaving the beauty, wisdom, and lucidity of Nature behind) almost entirely removed the numinous and sacred out of our experience of life. We are in the throes of healing an incredible separation from the Divine in our culture. In moving more toward the natural timing of cycles and events in our lives, with respect to informing and reflecting the macrocosm that is symbolized by Astrology, we can begin to reclaim our natural state of being and evolving. We can drive forward with our mission and our intention, and then take a moment to reevaluate and redeem ourselves during the process of achieving. Give thanks then that your computer crashes, or your brakes need replacing! It means you might need to take a break, reflect, restore and enjoy this small moment to replenish your Spirit. This is the hope of Astrology, and the lesson, and true gift, of Mercury Retrograde.

Current Weather: Mercury Is Retrograde in Leo…

Mercury and Paris by Annibale Carracci
Ceiling of the Farnese Gallery. 16th/17th Century Baroque Italian Art.

Just a note to you as a reminder that on July 14, 2012 we’ll be in a Mercury Retrograde phase once again.

Mercury is already slowing down a bit in preparation for its 3-week back-track, so I thought you’d want to start thinking about ways to prepare. This coming Retrograde is in Leo – so all of you who have a strong emphasis on Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius in your birthcharts will probably experience the strongest effects.

To prepare, begin to explore ways to still your mind, particularly around your creative ideas and heart attachments. Set aside some time in your calendar to have quiet introspective moments every day between July 14 and August 8, 2012… and then plan to use that time to review, revisit, and revise the following Leo ruled areas of life:  ego attachments, career in terms of your creativity, where you want to shine in life, your convictions, your self-confidence, your children and any creative progeny, where and how you are generous and giving, where you find and offer joy, how you respond to criticism, and your actual heart health.

Read that list again slowly and visualize each area of your life as you do… check to see what needs a do-over and then commit to spending some down town ruminating and mulling it over.

The time you set aside for introspection doesn’t have to be excessive – a few minutes a day will do.  But as always, anytime you work with an energy you benefit tremendously – whereas if you work against the energy (refusing to slow down and reflect, pushing through with projects rather than letting them breathe, making large purchases, signing contracts – those are all “don’ts” during Mercury Retrograde) you will feel the more negative side of its impact… and those are really not pleasant. Some for instances are:  mis-communications, technology devices that break and need repairing, car break downs, contracts back-firing, flubbing speeches and the traditional favorite, travel troubles.

Mercury Retrograde can be a very positive and restorative experience… just be willing to slow down and breathe, rather than forcing your way forward. In that way you get the benefit of some well-deserved down time.

So get ready to put your check book, your debit card, and your signing pen away for a few weeks… see what you can put on the back burner for a little while to free up some space, and get comfortable with the idea of going inside. This is your chance to rest and restore your mind… take it! Have fun introspecting!

Please read my article “Mercury Retrograde, The Unlikely Healing Gift”… it’s a great read and covers everything from mythology and history to what to expect. Enjoy!

Full Moon in Capricorn on July 3, 2012 Highlights the Uranus / Pluto Square – and Mars Moves Into Libra

July 3, 2012 was the Full Moon in Capricorn and there were quite a few challenging and ambitious energies present!

Today is the Full Moon in Capricorn and there are quite a few challenging and ambitious energies present!

The Moon and Sun themselves are setting off the current dynamic that is percolating between Uranus and Pluto, meaning that this lunar event activates the BIG EVENT going on in the sky right now. Pluto and Uranus are squaring off – developing the back drop of this generation – and that backdrop looks a lot like the need to change and transform on a revolutionary level. I’ll go more into that alignment in a future writing – but just know that today our emotions (Moon) and our egos (Sun) are caught up in that same sort of energy.

To move forward with that energy in a positive way, purge things that are no longer useful (Pluto), listen to your intuition (Uranus), allow yourself to go into your depths and pull up relevant information that can enlighten your future path (Pluto & Uranus together), fly your freak flag high and large – meaning don’t be afraid to let your unique gifts emerge and don’t keep your mouth closed when you see that you can make a difference in changing something that needs to be changed. And be a voice for the undergod – ok, so I meant to write underDOG there, but I’m leaving that mis-type to let you ponder what that might mean for a moment.

Pluto IS the underGOD – in Greek Mythology he was the God of Hades – the Lord of Death and the Underworld – and through him you were admitted into the after life and transformed. So this Sun/Moon opposition, i.e. Full Moon, sheds light on your emotions surrounding ambition/authority (Moon in Capricorn) and your ego attachments within domestic, home and family life (Sun in Cancer), while somehow pushing forward with tension between the shadow-self and enlightenment – possibly bringing you face to face with something that needs to die away to make room for the new. That’s quite a bit to think about… and as the Full Moon in general is seen as a time of culmination or a denouement since it occurs mid-way of the Moons monthly journey, juxtapose the creative energies that I just described onto your career and family life and see what you come up with.

Another thing just happening today is Mars moving from Virgo into Libra… this means that we are facing our fears and desires within the realm of relationship and that energy can run high and hot within them. It can translate to actively pursuing relationship, especially for the Cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.  With Mars in Libra we now want to be the hero or heroine of our own romantic journey, or possible we decide to actively pursue our artistic dreams and aspirations… this is a “Go for it!” when we’re on a quest for beauty and the sublime. Mars is not at his most comfortable in Libra – it’s the God of War meets the Lady of Peace and Justice – but there are up-sides.

Venus Goes Direct!! June 27, 2012 – Impact on Your Relationships, Values and Money

Venus is reflecting on her own image – via a mirror being held up to her by Cupid – or Love. What reflections have you made during Venus Retrograde that YOU can move forward with now that VENUS is moving forward?

Venus begins her forward motion today, having appeared to be traveling backwards since May 15, 2012. Yay!

We’ve had a full 6 weeks (and the spectacular Transit of Venus across the Sun) to come back to right relationship with our loved ones, our resources (money!) and our values. Maybe we’ve felt a little estranged from love, beauty and appreciation during this time (especially Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius & Pisces). Maybe a close relationship has come up for inspection and failed to pass muster, or the shadow nature of it has been exposed to work on. Maybe the darker side of intimacy came up for air. Maybe you just haven’t felt very social… or if you’re an artist of any kind, perhaps your work has taken an unexpected turn and deeper material was exposed.

What have you learned? What have you processed about the way you approach, receive, and share love? How have your more feminine desires made themselves felt and understood? What has come up to be processed about your creativity – your artistic nature? What happened to help you look at money, investments, and your resources differently?

Venus moving forward means that we can get our beauty groove back on… we can see the light of love once again. Look for a real solution/resolution after August 1 when Venus travels forward over the 23rd degree of Gemini – where she was when she began her backwards travel.

And remember that Venus is in Gemini (as was the Retrograde and the  Transit of Venus). So the workings of your mind are involved here – how you process, how you think, how you communicate all things Venus – that’s right LOVE, RELATIONSHIP, MONEY, RESOURCES, BEAUTY, WHAT PLEASES YOU – PLEASURE, WHAT YOU FIND BEAUTIFUL. Ponder, ponder, ponder where the past 6 weeks have taken you with respect to thinking about, understanding and expressing yourself around these ideas, these parts of yourself.

Feel appreciation! Venus is back on track, and all that walked in the shadow can come out into full light again.

If you have a Venus Retrograde or a Transit of Venus story, I’d love to hear it! Venus IS direct now – time to share!

The New Moon in Gemini, June 19, 2012 – Open Your Mind!

Viewing the Moon’s phases in our night sky is such a beautiful reminder that life runs in cycles – and that we benefit if we pay attention to those cycles.

I love New Moons!

And today is one in Gemini. (11:02 am Eastern Time)

They’re fresh and regenerative… offering us a time every month to begin anew… to have another chance at starting something.

The general purpose of any New Moon is to create a new beginning, just as the Moon begins a brand new cycle from her dark or invisible phase, waxing to a tiny crescent and then on to bold brightness at the Full Moon, and then gradually waning again to a tiny sliver – back to the dark. Viewing the Moon’s phases in our night sky is such a beautiful reminder that life runs in cycles – and that we benefit if we pay attention to those cycles. Moon watching is both a connection to all humanity through the ages and an incredible way to gain insight into life from all the symbolic meanings that follow her constant but fluctuating passage. Whenever you have the chance, go outside and really look deeply at the Moon. Ponder how her reflected light and the phase that she presents affects you. Somehow this practice brings us back to center and offers an inner contentment. At least that is my experience.

This particular New Moon in Gemini, the second New Moon in Gemini in a month (which is unusual, and the previous one was on May 20 and coincided with the Solar Eclipse) brings yet more emphasis on the workings of our minds, how we analyze new information, and how we communicate what we come up with. There has been an incredible amount of celestial focus on Gemini of late: The Solar Eclipse, the Transit of Venus, Venus Retrograde in Gemini, the Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius which is the opposite sign to Gemini (therefore part of the same axis) and the 2 New Moons. Wow.

So here’s my suggestion on what to bring in or start anew at this New Moon (and it’s sort of all tied in to Venus, because of the recent Transit of Venus and that she is still Retrograde in Gemini.)

OPEN YOUR MIND… STRETCH IT WIDE. (Please really think about what this can mean to you. Really THINK about what is new that your eyes can see.)

EXTEND YOUR THOUGHTS INTO THE REALM OF YOUR VALUES.

NOURISH YOUR IDEAS WITH WISDOM.

COMMUNICATE all of these new thoughts, more loving values, and freshly wizened ideals FROM THE HEART.

And because Mars is in very much in the mix today via a square to the Sun and Moon, allow yourself to be motivated!! Don’t block the wellspring of energy that is edging you toward something perhaps a little scary and outside your comfort zone.

ACT with MOTIVATED INTELLIGENCE.

All of this Gemini-ness and Venus-ness is a reminder that you are what you think you are – therefore think that you are LOVE. And with the influence of both Venus and Mars, desire and create from the heart.

That is all. But that is a lot!

P.S. Remember that tomorrow is the Summer Solstice, brought to us by the Sun moving into Cancer. Celebrate!

Once-in-a-Lifetime: Transit of Venus Interview with Adam Gainsburg and Michelle Gregg

Adam Gainsburg and Michelle Gregg – Astrologers chatting about the meaning of the Once-in-a-Lifetime Transit of Venus…

CLICK TO LISTEN TO INTERVIEW

As most of you already know, we were fortunate to be alive for a very rare sky event called the Transit of Venus. This “eclipse-like” event of Venus traversing across the face of the sun only happens in pairs, every hundred and five years. We were incredibly fortunate to have been here for both the 2004 and the just-past June 5th & 6th, 2012 Transits of Venus. The next pair won’t occur again until 2117 and 2125!

What does this amazing Transit mean to you?

I got Adam Gainsburg, a true expert on Venus, on the phone to talk with him about exactly that. And he had some pretty amazing things to say!

So please listen here to what can only be called a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity…

A Meditation for the Transit of Venus

The Birth of Venus by Alexandre Cabanel (1823-1889) Oil on Canvas – Musee d’Orsay, Paris, France

I hope you’ll join me in this simple meditation of love, inspired by today’s very rare transit of Venus across the sun.

The Transit of Venus happens today from 6pm to Midnight Eastern Time. Calculate the difference for your own time zone, and then at some point during the transit (if possible), please read aloud or listen to the following meditation on love:

Please breathe deeply, sit up comfortably, relax your body, relax your brow, hands arms and legs and if you can, place your bare feet on the floor or the ground.

A Meditation of Intention for the Transit of Venus

At this rare moment in life, the Transit of Venus across the face of the Sun, I put forward my intentions of living my life with MORE LOVE. Love of my family, my significant other, my children, my pets, and my friends. At this remarkable historic event, I co-create a more loving, more compassionate world – from my small world of neighbors, family, friends and co-workers to my local community, to my city, to my country and to the whole of the greater world. It is my desire that all who live now both give and receive the ultimate gift of unconditional love and unquestioned respect every day of their lives. It is my hope that we as human beings, living a spiritual life in a physical existence, bridge our differences and learn acceptance of each other through the love that is present in all moments in time. I feel the loving shift happening around me and choose to consciously participate. I allow my inner feminine to lead me with intuition and grace to a deeper understanding of love and forgiveness – of myself, of those around me, and those I will never meet. I fully embrace MORE LOVE and am now a willing conduit for it. My values are based on LOVE, now and forever.

NOTE: If you aren’t able to participate in the Meditation during the actual Transit of Venus – NO WORRIES! Please feel free to use this meditation anytime in the coming months and as often as possible to encourage and participate a powerful shift in consciousness in your life and in the world.
